  2. 2. Advances in Microwave Hyperthermia Treatment using Time Reversal

    Author : Hana Dobsicek Trefna; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; microwave hyperthermia; time reversal; microwave thermometry; annular phased array; amplifier system; treatment planning;

    Abstract : The last twenty years have seen many clinical studies showing the ability of hyperthermia to remarkably enhance response to radiation therapy and chemotherapy. The objective of hyperthermia treatment is to raise the temperature in tumors to therapeutic levels, for a sufficient period of time, in order to achieve cell death or render the cells more sensitive to ionizing radiation and/or chemotherapy. Author : Ulf Jordan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; resonators; breakdown plasma; waveguides; microwave breakdown; metal wedges; HPM protection;

    Abstract : Theories for microwave breakdown in gases, with emphasis on Air, are presented in this thesis. Underlying physical processes are described together with models suitable for scientific research and technical development. READ MORE

  4. 4. Enhancing Tropospheric Humidity Data Records from Satellite Microwave and Radiosonde Sensors

    Author : Isaac Moradi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; CDR; climate; microwave; radiosonde; water vapor; remote sensing; antenna; homogenization; humidity; meteorology; troposphere; radio-frequency;

    Abstract : Water vapor is the most dominant greenhouse gas and plays a critical role in the climate by regulating the Earth's radiation budget and hydrological cycle. A comprehensive dataset is required to describe the temporal and spatial distribution of water vapor, evaluate the performance of climate and weather prediction models in terms of simulating tropospheric humidity, and understand the role of water vapor and its feedback in the climate system. 5. 5. High Power Microwave Sources : design and experiments

    Author : Cecilia Möller; Nils Brenning; Stefan Silfverskiöld; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Space physics; Rymdfysik; Plasma physics; Plasmafysik;

    Abstract : High-Power Microwaves (HPM) can be used to intentionally disturb or destroy electronic equipment at a distance by inducing high voltages and currents. This thesis presents results from experiments with a narrow band HPM source, the vircator. READ MORE
