  1. 1. Conformations of Flexible Oligosaccharides : Molecular Simulations and NMR spectroscopy

    Author : Robert Pendrill; Göran Widmalm; Jens Duus; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbohydrates; Oligosaccharide; Conformation; NMR spectroscopy; MD simulations; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : The conformational preferences of several oligosaccharides are investigated herein using a combination of NMR spectroscopy and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, focusing on the torsion angles associated with the glycosidic linkages.Strategies for obtaining usable J-HMBC spectra for carbons with an adjacent 13C label are described. 2. 2. Conformational Dynamics of Carbohydrates Studied by NMR Spectroscopy and Molecular Simulations

    Author : Jennie Östervall; Göran Widmalm; C. Allen Bush; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbohydrates; NMR; Molecular Dynamics; Conformation; Dynamics; Residual Dipolar Couplings; Cyclodextrins; Oligosaccharides; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : Carbohydrates play important roles in biological processes. Their function is closely related to their conformation. In this thesis, conformational studies of carbohydrates by NMR spectroscopy and molecular dynamics computer simulations are described. READ MORE

  3. 3. Controlling protein homeostasis through regulation of Heat shock factor 1

    Author : Anna E. Masser; Claes Andréasson; Marie Öhman; David Pincus; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stress; protein homeostasis; molecular chaperones; heat shock response; Hsf1; Hsp70; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Abstract : In order to thrive in a changing environment all organisms need to ensure protein homeostasis (proteostasis). Proteostasis is ensured by the proteostasis system that monitors the folding status of the proteome and regulates cell physiology and gene expression to counteract any perturbations. READ MORE

  4. 4. Determinants of peptidyl-tRNA drop-off from E. coli Ribosomes : Effects of antibiotics, mutations and translation factors

    Author : Reza Karimi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Abstract : During protein synthesis, some peptidyl-tRNA molecules dissociate from the ribosomes and become hydrolysed by peptidyl-tRNA hydrolase (Pth). Two different in vitro systems, poly(U) and natural mRNA programmed ribosomes, have been used in order to determine dissociation (drop-off) rates of deacylated- and peptidyl-tRNAs from different sites on ribosomes.
