  1. 1. The Performance of a Multi Cylinder HCCI Engine using Variable Compression Ratio and Fast Thermal Management

    Author : Jari Hyvönen; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Motorer; framdrivningssystem; Variable Compression Ratio; Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition VCR; termodynamik; Motors and propulsion systems; Termisk teknik; applied thermodynamics; Thermal engineering; Cylinder-to-cylinder; Turbocharging; Multi cylinder; Cylinder balancing; Thermal Management; HCCI;

    Abstract : The prime mover in the world today is the Internal Combustion (IC) engine. The development and improvement of the internal combustion engines since Nicolaus August Otto and Rudolf Diesel has continued until today and will continue long into the future. No major competitor to the IC engine has yet emerged. READ MORE

  2. 2. Closed-Loop Combustion Control of a Multi Cylinder HCCI Engine using Variable Compression Ratio and Fast Thermal Management

    Author : Göran Haraldsson; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CR; Motorer; framdrivningssystem; Motors and propulsion systems; Teknik; Technological sciences; Closed-Loop Combustion Control; CLCC; Multi cylinder; HCCI; Black box; System identification; State feedback; PID; LQG; Fast Thermal Management; FTM; VCR Variable Compression Ratio;

    Abstract : The current Spark Ignited (SI) engine equipped with three-way catalyst offers low emissions, but has low efficiency at part load, which results in unnecessarily high CO2 emissions. The Compression Ignited (CI) engines have higher efficiency and hence lower CO2 emissions, but suffer from higher Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) and Particulate Matter (PM) emissions, and no three-way catalyst can be used. 3. 3. Characterization and Control of Multi-Cylinder Partially Premixed Combustion

    Author : Magnus Lewander; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Efficiency estimation; Closed-loop control; EGR; Diesel engine; Partially Premixed Combustion; Combustion control;

    Abstract : In the last decade diesel combustion has developed in a new direction. Research has been carried out trying to prolong the ignition delay and enhance fuel/air premixing to avoid diffusion combustion as well as lowering the combustion temperature through use of EGR. One of these new combustion concepts is Partially Premixed Combustion (PPC). READ MORE

  4. 4. Control Structures for Low-Emission Combustion in Multi-Cylinder Engines

    Author : Maria Henningsson; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LQG control; fumigation; mid-ranging control; HCCI engine; engine control;

    Abstract : Traditionally, heavy-duty diesel engines have high efficiencies but also high emissions of NOx and soot particles. New engine concepts show the potential to retain diesel-like efficiencies while reducing emissions by forming a completely or partially homogeneous mixture of fuel and air prior to ignition through compression. 5. 5. Residual stress in a T-butt joint weld : cylinder versus plane plate geometry

    Author : Berth Eriksson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Abstract : The welding process introduces residual stress originating from the heating, melting and cooling of the material. From the point of view of fatigue and stress corrosion cracking, the weld residual stress perpendicular to the weld axis is of particular interest. READ MORE
