  1. 1. A mechanical model of an axial piston machine

    Author : Rasmus Löfstrand Grip; Ulf Sellgren; Niclas Strömberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Multi-body mechanical model; axial piston; Z-shaft; wobble plate; Sophia; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : A mechanical model of an axial piston-type machine with a so-called wobble plate and Z-shaft mechanism is presented. The overall aim is to design and construct an oil-free piston expander demonstrator as a first step to realizing an advanced and compact small-scale steam engine system. READ MORE

  2. 2. Towards Model-Based Condition Monitoring of Railway Switches and Crossings

    Author : Marko Milosevic; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sleeper void; Switches crossings; condition indicators; embedded sleeper accelerometer; multi-body simulations; dynamic vehicle–track interaction; MBS; S C; wheel–rail contact forces; condition monitoring; crossing rail geometry; displacement reconstruction.; model calibration;

    Abstract : Railway switches and crossings (S&C, turnouts) connect different track sections and create a railway network by allowing for trains to change between tracks. This functionality comes at a cost as the load-inducing rail discontinuities in the switch and crossing panels cause much higher degradation rates for S&C compared to regular plain line track. 3. 3. Lean Prototyping of Multi-body and Mechatronic Systems

    Author : Anders Jönsson; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Major drivers behind increased efforts in product development are the increased competition due to globalisation and the urgent transformation of society towards sustainability. Furthermore, the average product lifetime has been compressed significantly over the last decade. READ MORE

  4. 4. Forestry machine and soil interaction for sustainable forestry

    Author : Abdurasul Pirnazarov; Ulf Sellgren; Kjell Andersson; Sally Shoop; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CTL-logging; forestry machine; forwarder; multi-body simulations; roots; terramechanics; wheel-soil interaction; WES model; Machine Design; Maskinkonstruktion;

    Abstract : More than 50 percent of the land area of the Nordic countries Finland, Norway, and Sweden are covered by dense forests and they are among the most important producers of forest products in the world. Forestry in these countries is based on sustainable management principles – reforestation follows harvesting. READ MORE

  5. 5. Extended Computational Module for Tractive Effort at Rolling and Spinning Point Contacts

    Author : Mikael Törmänen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; spin; thermal effects; Hertzian contact; continuously variable transmission; rolling resistance; speed pole; traction drive; multi-body system; efficient numerical procedure;

    Abstract : One category of mechanical systems that contains power-transferring point contacts is traction drive variators. These variators can be used in different concepts for Continuously Variable Transmissions (CVTs) and in vehicle applications, in order to achieve optimum engine operating conditions leading to improved driveability, reduced fuel consumption and an increase in overall vehicle performance.
