21. Mathematical Multi-Objective Optimization of the Tactical Allocation of Machining Resources in Functional Workshops
Abstract : In the aerospace industry, efficient management of machining capacity is crucial to meet the required service levels to customers and to maintain control of the tied-up working capital. We introduce new multi-item , multi-level capacitated resource allocation models with a medium--to--long--term planning horizon. READ MORE

22. Product Configuration from a Mathematical Optimization Perspective
Abstract : The optimal truck configuration for a certain customer is very specific and depends on for what transport mission and in which operating environment the truck is to be used. In addition, the customers normally specify other feature requirements ranging from visual appearance to advanced driver support systems. READ MORE

23. Model-based Analysis and Design of Atomic Layer Deposition Processes
Abstract : Atomic layer deposition (ALD) is a thin-film manufacturing process in which the growth surface is exposed to non-overlapping alternating injections of gas-phase chemical precursor species separated by intermediate purge periods to prevent gas-phase reactions. ALD is characterized by sequential self-terminating heterogeneous reactions between highly reactive gas-phase precursor species and surface-bound species which, when allowed sufficient conditions to reach saturation, results in highly conformal films, on both planar and topographically complex structures. 24. Modeling and Optimization of Reversed-Phase Chromatography : Effects of Modulators and Temperature
Abstract : Many widespread diseases, such as diabetes, various types of cancer, and aggressive versions of influenza, are treated or prevented with biopharmaceuticals. Biopharmaceuticals are drugs that are based on proteins, peptides, antibodies, attenuated viruses (vaccines), and other biomolecules that are synthesized predominately in bacteria, yeast, and mammalian cells. 25. Optimization beyond a single submodular function : Submodular optimization for ranking, decision trees and diversity
Abstract : Submodular functions characterize mathematically the ubiquitous ``diminishing-returns'’ property. They are widely used to describe core subjects in numerous applications, including economic utility, redundancy in information, spread of influence in social networks, and more. READ MORE
