  1. 1. Myc-induced Lymphomagenesis : In vivo assessment of downstream pathways

    Author : Sara Rimpi; Jonas Nilsson; Juha Klefström; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Myc; lymphomagenesis; Aurora kinases; polyamine; glycolysis; targeting; mouse models of cancer; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Abstract : Myc oncogenes encode transcription factors that bind to E-box sequences in DNA, driving the expression of a large number of target genes and are deregulated in approximately 70% of human cancers. Deregulated Myc expression cause enhanced proliferation (which is counteracted by apoptosis), angiogenesis and cancer. READ MORE

  2. 2. MYC-driven Medulloblastoma : New Targeted Therapies and Mechanisms of Recurrence

    Author : Anna Borgenvik; Fredrik J. Swartling; Lars-Gunnar Larsson; Sonja Hutter; Pratiti (Mimi) Bandopadhayay; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medulloblastoma; Pediatric cancer; Recurrence; MYC; MYCN; SOX9; Treatment; Bet bromodomains; Cyclin-dependent kinases; Oncology; Onkologi; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Abstract : Medulloblastoma is the most common malignant brain tumor of childhood. It arises in the posterior fossa but presents with distinct histological and molecular features. Hence, medulloblastoma is divided into four molecular subgroups, WNT, SHH, Group 3, and Group 4. READ MORE

  3. 3. Of Mice and MYC : Modelling Medulloblastoma

    Author : Oliver Mainwaring; Fredrik J. Swartling; Charles Eberhart; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medulloblastoma; MYC; Group 3; Cdkn2a; ARF; HSP90; Chromosome 17q; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Abstract : Brain tumours are the leading cause of cancer-related paediatric deaths, with medulloblastoma (MB) being the most common malignant paediatric brain tumour. MB is stratified into four major subgroups – WNT, SHH, Group 3, and Group 4, nomenclature defined by key pathways and drivers involved within each subgroup. READ MORE

  4. 4. Regulation of DNA damage responses by the Myc oncogene : implications for future anti-cancer therapies

    Author : Andreas Höglund; Jonas Nilsson; Thomas Helleday; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Myc; DNA damage; Decitabine; Chk1; Chk2; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Abstract : Myc is a transcription factor frequently found deregulated in human cancer. Cells with deregulated expression of Myc carry a selective advantage against its neighbours due to the fact that Myc-mediated transcription governs crucial cellular events such as proliferation and growth. 5. 5. Examining the role of metabolism in Myc-driven tumorigenesis

    Author : Tacha Zi Plym Forshell; Jonas Nilsson; Mattias Belting; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cancer; Myc; metabolism; polyamines; spermidine synthase; glycolysis; lactate dehydrogenase; serine metabolism; Phgdh; folate metabolism; Shmt; Pim kinase; Pim-3 Kinase; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : Myc transcriptionally regulates genes involved in processes such as cell proliferation, metabolism, differentiation, and angiogenesis.  MYC expression is deregulated in many types of human cancer; therefore discovering the mechanisms behind MYCs role in tumorigenesis is essential.
