  1. 1. Trainee teacher identities in the discourses of physics teacher education : Going against the flow of university physics

    Author : Johanna Larsson; John Airey; Anna Danielsson; Eva Lundqvist; Maria Vetleseter Bøe; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; physics; physics teacher education; preservice teacher training; professional identity; identity performances; femininities; discourse analysis; qualitative interviews; educational relevance; gender; Physics with specialization in Physics Education; Fysik med inriktning mot fysikens didaktik;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates what is involved in being recognized as a legitimate physics teacher-to-be in a Swedish physics teacher programme. Drawing on in-depth, qualitative interviews with 17 physics teacher educators and 17 trainee physics teachers, this thesis sees learning to become a physics teacher as a process of performing professional identities. Abstract : We are constantly struggling to understand how nature works, trying to identify recurrent events and looking for analogies and relations between objects or individuals. Knowing patterns of behavior is powerful and fundamental for survival of any species. READ MORE

  3. 3. Complexity Theory and Physics Education Research : The Case of Student Retention in Physics and Related Degree Programmes

    Author : Jonas Forsman; Cedric Linder; Ismo Koponen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics Education Research; Complexity Theory; Student Retention; Physics with specialization in Physics Education; Fysik med inriktning mot fysikens didaktik;

    Abstract : This thesis explores the use of complexity theory in Physics Education Research as a way to examine the issue of student retention (a university’s ability to retain its students). University physics education is viewed through the concepts of nestedness and networked interactions. READ MORE

  4. 4. Uniformity in physics courses and student diversity : A study of learning to participate in physics

    Author : Anders Johansson; Staffan Andersson; Minna Salminen-Karlsson; Maja Elmgren; Cedric Linder; Maria Berge; Uppsala universitet; []
