    Abstract : The study of bacterial evolution is fundamental for addressing current problems of antibiotic resistance and emerging infectious diseases and lays a solid foundation for successful and rational design in biotechnology and synthetic biology. The main aim of this thesis is to test evolutionary hypotheses, largely based on theoretical considerations and sequence analysis, by designing scenarios in a laboratory setting to obtain experimental data. Abstract : Giardia lamblia is a eukaryotic parasite of the upper small intestine of humans and animals. The infecting trophozoite cells do not invade the epithelium lining of the intestine, but attach to the brush border surface in the intestinal lumen. The giardiasis disease in humans is highly variable. READ MORE

  3. 3. Structure, function and metabolic stability of antisense RNAs

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Fredrik Söderbom; Uppsala universitet.; [1997]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microbiology; Mikrobiologi; NATURAL SCIENCES Biology Organism biology Microbiology; NATURVETENSKAP Biologi Organismbiologi Mikrobiologi; mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Abstract : Antisense RNAs usually are small, highly structured, unstable RNAs that control a varietyof different biological processes. They exert their effect by binding to complementarytarget RNAs and thereby inhibit their functions. READ MORE
