  1. 1. On the role of Natural Killer cell immunogenetics for the outcome of immunotherapy in acute myeloid leukemia

    Author : Brwa Ali Hussein; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Natural killer cells; Acute Myeloid Leukemia; immunotherapy; HDC IL-2; NKG2A; NK education; SNPs; NK activating receptors; HLA class I;

    Abstract : Numerous studies have revealed that natural killer cells have fundamental roles as effector cells in myeloid leukemias. Thus, understanding NK cell-related biomarkers that influence clinical outcome are warranted. READ MORE

  2. 2. Imaging-based methods for NK cell studies at the single-cell level

    Author : Quentin Verron; Björn Önfelt; Niklas Sandström; Michael Dustin; KTH; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; NK cells; microscopy; single-cell; Biological and Biomedical Physics; Biologisk och biomedicinsk fysik;

    Abstract : The immune system provides defense against infectious agents such as viruses, bacteria and parasites. Besides eliminating extracellular agents, the immune system also constantly monitors our own cells for signs of transformation, including tumor development and virus infection. READ MORE

  3. 3. The mast cell transcriptome and the evolution of granule proteins and Fc receptors

    Author : Srinivas Akula; Lars Hellman; Sandra Kleinau; Arne Egesten; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mast cell; Fc receptors; Granule serine protease; Evolution and transcriptome.; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Abstract : Protection against disease-causing pathogens, known as immunity, involves numerous cells organs, tissues and their products. To able to understand the biology of immune cells (hematopoietic cells) and their role in an immune system, we have used several different methods, including transcriptome analyses, bioinformatics, production of recombinant proteins and analyses of some of them, focusing on the granule proteases by substrate phage display. 4. 4. Innate and acquired immunity to herpes simplex virus type 2 glycoprotein G in humans

    Author : Lars Bellner; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : herpes simplex virus type 2; glycoprotein G-2; T-cell proliferation; Th1 cytokines; phagocytes; NK cells; reactive oxygen species; formyl peptide receptors;

    Abstract : Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) is a sexually transmitted pathogen that infects the human genital tract mucosa and is the most common cause of genital ulcer disease in humans. The infection exhibits a broad clinical spectrum, ranging from severe recurrent episodes of genital herpes to being completely asymptomatic. READ MORE

  5. 5. Fcγ-receptors in systemic autoimmune conditions : lessons from murine mercury-induced autoimmunity

    Author : Klara Martinsson; Per Hultman; Karin Cederbrant; Johan Rönnelid; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : In this thesis we investigated the role of activating (FcγRI, FcγRIII) and inhibitory (FcγRIIB) Fcγ-receptors on systemic autoimmunity using two mouse strains, DBA/1 (H-2q) and BALB/c mice (H-2d), susceptible to induction of autoimmunity by mercury (Hg).Fc-receptors for IgG (FcγR) link cellular and humoral immune responses, control the balance between activating and inhibitory immune responses and are important in the development of several autoimmune diseases.
