  1. 1. Clinical implementation of novel diagnostic biomarkers for epithelial ovarian cancer - Can we improve diagnosis?

    Author : Maria Lycke; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Ovarian neoplasms; EOC; Diagnosis; protein biomarkers; HE4; CA125; Algorithms; RMI; ROMA; NGS; rare mutations; liquid biopsies; screening;

    Abstract : Background: Epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) is the most lethal gynecologic cancer. The 5-year survival is about 30%, a consequence of failure to establish early diagnosis due to unspecific symptoms. READ MORE

  2. 2. Colorectal Cancer - Evaluation of MMP as a prognostic marker and a model for peritoneal response

    Author : Andreas Jonsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Colorectal neoplasms; matrix metalloproteinases; colorectal surgery; survival; prognosis; peritoneum; peritoneal neoplasms;

    Abstract : Background : There are about 6600 patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer in Sweden each year. Survival rates vary with cancer stage at diagnosis. The main treatment is surgery together with, in some cases, oncological treatment. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMP) are deeply involved in the growth and spread of colorectal cancer tumours. 3. 3. Mangafodipir trisodium (MnDPDP)-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging of the liver and pancreas

    Author : Chen Wang; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Liver; pancreas; neoplasms; metastases; endocrine tumor; MR imaging; contrast medium; mangafodipir trisodium; MnDPDP; manganese; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; diagnostisk radiologi; Diagnostic Radiology;

    Abstract : Contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the liver and pancreas is frequently performed to improve the sensitivity and specificity of lesion detection in these organs. The concept of using tissue-specific contrast media is to selectively enhance the normal parenchyma, but not lesions, so that the contrast between tumorous and normal tissue is increased, and lesion detectability improved. 4. 4. Morbidity and childbirth in myeloproliferative neoplasms

    Author : Anna Ravn Landtblom; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) are a family of chronic hematologic cancers, characterized by excess proliferation of myeloid cell lineages, or fibrosis of the bone marrow. Patients with MPN generally have a long expected survival. To elucidate morbidities during the disease course, e.g. READ MORE

  5. 5. CT Colonography: implementation and technical developments

    Author : Valeria A Fisichella; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : X-ray Computed Tomography; Computed Tomographic Colonography; Computer-Assisted Image Processing; Three-Dimensional Imaging; Colonoscopy; Colon; Rectum; Colorectal Neoplasms; Computer-Assisted Diagnosis; Ionizing Radiation;

    Abstract : Background: Computed tomographic colonography (CTC) is a minimally invasive imaging method for the detection of colorectal neoplasms. Uncertainty about its diagnostic performance, optimal visualization method, long learning curve and radiation exposure are among problems with CTC, affecting its implementation in routine health care.
