1. Investigation on the Influence of Nodularity in Machining of Compacted Graphite Iron (CGI)
Abstract : Stringency of environmental legislation on emission rates and increasing vehicle performance requirements are pushing the automotive and heavy truck industries to find new solutions for their diesel engines. Two potential opportunities to address these challenges involve increased combustion pressure to obtain more efficient combustion or reducing the weight of the engine. READ MORE

2. Morphological characterization of primary austenite in cast iron
Abstract : Automotive industry products portfolio includes a wide variety of complex‐shaped cast iron products, such as truck engine components, that need to withstand a constant trend of higher demands, especially urged by stricter environmental regulations on emissions. Combined with this continued demand on properties improvement, cast iron industry faces a process problem related to the lack of understanding of solidification and mechanisms behind defect formation. 3. On the Microstructure and the Thermal Conductivity in Compacted Graphite Iron
Abstract : Compacted graphite iron (CGI) is a cast iron material that has gained much attention due to its attractive material properties which are intermediate between those of grey and ductile cast iron. In the automotive industry compacted graphite iron has become an interesting alternative material to grey cast iron in components like cylinder blocks or cylinder heads. READ MORE

4. The influence of graphite morphology on the elastic behaviour of cast irons
Abstract : The morphology of the graphite phase largely controls the resulting properties of different grades of cast iron. In flake graphite cast irons, the mechanical properties are low while the thermal conductivity is high. In contrast, with spheroidal graphite cast irons, the mechanical properties are high while the thermal conductivity is low. READ MORE

5. On Thermal Conductivity and Strength in Compacted Graphite Irons : Influence of Temperature and Microstructure
Abstract : Thermal conductivity, hardness and strength are all highly important material properties, affecting the performance and life expectancy of components operating at elevated temperatures. The main purpose of this work has been to increase the knowledge and understanding concerning how mechanical and physical properties are affected by temperature and microstructure in compacted graphite irons.
