  1. 1. Notch Signaling in Human Neuroblastoma Cells

    Author : Marie Stockhausen; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; oncology; Hes-1; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; hypoxia; TGF-alpha; EGFR; ERK1 2; Ras MAPK; differentiation; valproic acid; ubiquilin-1; neuroblastoma; Hash-1; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer; cancerology; Cytology; Notch;

    Abstract : Neuroblastoma is a childhood tumor derived from the sympathetic nervous system (SNS). It is believed that the tumors arise from cells halted in their differentiation and due to their immature phenotype; they express proteins normally only detected during embryogenesis. One such protein is Hash-1, which is required for formation of the SNS. READ MORE

  2. 2. Notch signalling in carcinogenesis : With special emphasis on T-cell lymphoma and colorectal cancer

    Author : Jonas Ungerbäck; Peter Söderkvist; Ola Hermanson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Notch signalling; T-cell lymphoma; colorectal cancer; Wnt signalling; transcription; Medical cell biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Abstract : The Notch signalling pathway is an evolutionary conserved pathway, named after the Notch receptors, Notch1-4 in mammals, which upon cell-cell contact and ligand binding releases the intracellular domain (NICD). NICD translocates into the nucleus where it binds the transcriptional repressor RBP-Jk, which together with co-activators belonging to the Mastermind-like family of proteins form a transcriptional activation complex. 3. 3. Notch Signaling in Neuroblastoma and Renal Cell Carcinoma

    Author : Jonas Sjölund; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; differentiation; clear cell renal cell carcinoma; neuroblastoma; TGF-beta; migration; γ-secretase; valproic acid; cancer; Notch; ERK; von Hippel-Lindau; hypoxia;

    Abstract : The Notch signaling pathway governs cell functions essential for normal development and organogenesis. Aberrant Notch signaling has been implicated in tumorigenesis by perturbing control of proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, migration and angiogenesis. READ MORE

  4. 4. Genetic networks dictating early lymphoid lineage decision events

    Author : Emma Smith; Stamcellscentrum (SCC); []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hematologi; extracellular fluids; Haematology; hematopoiesis; B-cell development; transcription; Notch; EBF; extracellulära vätskor;

    Abstract : Differentiation from hematopoietic stem cells to mature blood cells of different lineages is a continuous process that requires the coordinated activity of several stage and lineage specific transcription factors. These factors act in a transcriptional hierarchy and also in a combinatorial manner to establish the expression of the genes that comprise a specific differentiation program. READ MORE

  5. 5. Hypoxia-Inducible Factors in Tumor Cell Differentiation and Tumor Vascularization

    Author : Alexander Pietras; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; HIF-2alpha; cancer; notch; angiogenesis; tumor-initiating cells; hypoxia; neuroblastoma; differentiation;

    Abstract : Mammalian cells, including tumor cells, adapt to hypoxia via stabilization of two transcription factors - Hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)-1alpha and HIF-2alpha. Among other consequences, hypoxia is a main driving force behind angiogenesis. READ MORE
