  1. 1. Genital human papillomaviruses. Studies of their occurrence, type spectrum and expression

    Author : Ola Forslund; Malmö Klinisk mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mRNA expression; microwell; HPV 70; type determination; CIN; quantification; urine; multifocal infections; hybridization; PCR; HPV; human papillomavirus; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Abstract : The occurrence of genital human papillomavirus infection was determined in different categories of patients by means of PCR. In high proportion of young women attending an adolescent clinic, the presence of HPV DNA was demonstrated in simultaneously urethral and cervical samples, suggesting that genital HPV infections are often multifocal. 2. 2. 1D to 3D Magnetism in Quantum Materials: A study by Muons, Neutrons & X-rays

    Author : Ola Kenji Forslund; Martin Månsson; Robert Kiefl; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; muon; magnetism; scattering; quantum materials; Material and Nano Physics; Material- och nanofysik;

    Abstract : A collection of works stretching from low- to three-dimensional magnetism are presented, studied mostly through muon spin rotation, relaxation and resonance (µ +SR). The theoretical background of this technique is outlined in Chapter 2, which introduces the subject from the muon particle as an astro[1]nomical particle to how they are produced here on Earth. 3. 3. Scattering and propagation of electromagnetic waves in planar and curved periodic structures - applications to plane wave filters, plane wave absorbers and impedance surfaces

    Author : Ola Forslund; KTH; []
    Keywords : electromagnetic scattering; periodic structure; frequency selectiove structure; frequency selective surface;

    Abstract : The subject of this thesis is scattering of electromagneticwaves from planar and curved periodic structures. The problemspresented are solved in the frequency domain.Scattering from planar structures with two-dimensionalperiodic dependence of constitutive parameters is treated. READ MORE

  4. 4. From the cradle to the grave  - in sickness and in health? : The welfare state and health outcomes

    Author : Maria Forslund; Kenneth Nelson; Ola Sjöberg; Ann-Zofie Duvander; Kjetil van der Wel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; welfare state; sickness cash benefits; social policy; healthcare; primary care quality; cumulative dis advantage; life course; health; self-rated health; life expectancy; mortality; socioeconomic position; education; health literacy; Sociology; sociologi;

    Abstract : Sickness, whether manifested through actual sickness or through fear of sickness, is a part of human life. Sickness cash benefits was one of the earliest social security programs implemented in modern welfare states. Previous research on how sickness benefits are associated with health outcomes has emphasized the significance of income. READ MORE

  5. 5. Predictors of long-term glycemic control, pancreatic function and BMI trajectory in children with type 1 diabetes

    Author : Annika Grönberg; Per-Ola Carlsson; Anders Forslund; Klas Ekström; Gun Forsander; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Endokrinologi och Diabetologi; Endocrinology and Diabetology; Pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Abstract : Background: The maintenance of normal metabolic control underpins all management of insulin dependent diabetes whether in terms of preserved beta-cell function, body composition, or family support. The hypothesis of this work was that preserved C-peptide predicts better glycemic control and lowers risk of severe hypoglycemia. READ MORE
