  1. 1. Hormone-Sensitive Lipase, new roles for an old enzyme

    Author : Ola Hansson; diabetes och endokrinologi Genomik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Diabetes; Vitamin A; Inflammation; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Medicin människa och djur ; Metabolism; Hormone-Sensitive Lipase; Proteomics; Obesity; White adipose tissue; Skeletal muscle;

    Abstract : Hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL) has a wide tissue distribution with the highest expression found in white adipose tissue (WAT). HSL also has a unique ability to hydrolyze a large panel of substrates including acylglycerols, cholesteryl esters and retinyl esters. HSL is potentially a new drug target for the treatment of obesity and type II diabetes. READ MORE

  2. 2. The Usefulness of ICT Support Systems for Thesis Courses : Learners' Perspectives at Bachelor and Master Level

    Author : Naghmeh Aghaee; Henrik Hansson; Christina Keller; Matti Tedre; Ola Lindberg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Information and Communication Technologies ICT ; Support System; interaction; thesis; self-managed learning; data- och systemvetenskap; Computer and Systems Sciences;

    Abstract : Doing a bachelor’s or master’s degree is a journey that leads to success or attrition (dropout). Previous research show to the significance of considering learners’ perspectives and their need for information and different types of interaction. This can be done through online ICTSS (information and communication technology support systems). READ MORE

  3. 3. Functional characterization of the biological significance of the ZBED6/ZC3H11A locus in placental mammals

    Author : Shady Younis; Leif Andersson; Ola Hansson; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : The recent advances in molecular and computational biology have made possible the study of complicated transcriptional regulatory networks that control a wide range of biological processes and phenotypic traits. In this thesis, several approaches were combined including next generation sequencing, gene expression profiling, chromatin and RNA immunoprecipitation, bioinformatics and genome editing methods in order to characterize the biological significance of the ZBED6 and ZC3H11A genes.
