  1. 1. Accelerated wound healing by on-site production and delivery of CXCL12

    Author : Emelie Öhnstedt; Mia Phillipson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : wound healing; non-healing wounds; L. reuteri; macrophages; wound assessment; Fysiologi; Physiology;

    Abstract : Non-healing wounds is a growing medical problem, often associated with pathological conditions such as diabetes and peripheral ischemia. A non-healing wound entails a large amount of suffering for the patient, and demands extensive health care resources. READ MORE

  2. 2. Redox effects on neutrophils in wound healing conducted by wound dressings and hyperbaric oxygen

    Author : Herman Sahlin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : neutrophil granulocyte; wound healing; wound dressing; reactive oxygen species; NO; hyperbaric oxygen; bacterial killing;

    Abstract : The increased influx of neutrophils into chronic wounds results in increased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), nitric oxide (NO) and lipid peroxidation products (LPP), as well as a ROS-induced increase in protease levels. The NO and LPP impair the respiratory burst response of the neutrophils and reduce their capacity to kill bacteria and digest debris. READ MORE

  3. 3. Multi-frequency SFDI : depth-resolved scattering models of wound healing

    Author : Luigi Belcastro; Rolf Saager; Hanna Jonasson; Lise Lyngsnes Randeberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SFDI; Light scattering; Wound healing;

    Abstract : With optical techniques, we refer to a group of methods that use of light to perform measurements on matter. Spatial frequency domain imaging (SFDI) is an optical technique that operates in the spatial frequency domain. READ MORE

  4. 4. Multifunctional roles of plasmin in inflammation : Studies of animal models on rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, wound healing and infection

    Author : Jinan Li; Peter Carmeliet; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : Plasmin; complement; inflammation; wound healing; infection; autoimmune disease; non-autoimmune disease; rheumatoid arthritis; multiple sclerosis; tympanic membrane; otitis media; medicinsk biokemi; Medical Biochemistry;

    Abstract : Plasmin has been suggested to be involved in degradation of extracellular matrix (ECM) and tissue remodeling during a number of physiological and pathological processes. The aims of this thesis were to study the functional roles of plasmin during pathological inflammation in autoimmune and nonautoimmune disease models of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), multiple sclerosis (MS), wound healing and infection. 5. 5. Promoting healing of skin and mucosa by immunomodulation using CXCL12 producing lactic acid bacteria : From bench to bedside

    Author : Emelie Öhnstedt; Mia Phillipson; Neil Forbes; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; L.reuteri; wound healing; non-healing wounds; ILP100; colitis; immunotherapy;

    Abstract : Immunotherapies direct the immune system to respond in a certain way, such as to fight cancer or to dampen inflammation. In this thesis, a new immunotherapy, ILP100, is developed using a technology that allows for local production of short-lived immunoregulatory proteins that previously have been undruggable. READ MORE
