  1. 1. Atrial fibrillation in cardiac surgery

    Author : Anders Ahlsson; Anders Englund; Johan Brandt; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Atrial fibrillation; Inflammation; CABG surgery; Survival analysis; Follow-up studies; Ablation; Microwave; Transmurality; Atrial function; Tissue velocity echocardiography; Thoracic surgery; Thoraxkirurgi; Kirurgi; särskilt thoraxkirurgi; Surgery esp. Thoracic and Cardivascular Surgery;

    Abstract : Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia seen in clinical practice. In cardiac surgery, one-third of the patients experience episodes of AF during the first postoperative days (postoperative AF), and patients with preoperative AF (concomitant AF) can be offered ablation procedures in conjunction with surgery, in order to restore ordinary sinus rhythm (SR). 2. 2. Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair : Clinical and morphological outcomes

    Author : Tina Hellgren; Kevin Mani; Santi Trimarchi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Abstract : In the years following its introduction in the late 1980’s, thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) rose as a minimally invasive alternative to open surgical repair of thoracic aortic disease. As a result, an expanding group of patients are receiving invasive treatment, even though evidence in the area is still scarce. READ MORE

  3. 3. Treatment of abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysms :  Aspects on epidemiology and surgical outcome

    Author : Kim Gunnarsson; Kevin Mani; Jonas Eiberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Aortic aneurysm. Ruptured aortic aneurysm; Endovascular aneurysm repair; Open aortic repair; Aneurysm; Outcome; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Abstract : Aortic Aneurysm (AA) is a life-threatening condition when ruptured (RAA), requiring immediate repair for survival. Since the 50´s, open repair, replacing the diseased vessel with a prosthetic (synthetic) graft, has been the gold standard. READ MORE

    Abstract : In the clinical setting great efforts have been made with contradictory results to operate upon acutely myocardial ischemic patients. The reasons for the absence of unambiguous results are not well understood nor are they scientifically explored. READ MORE
