  1. 1. Chemical reactions in ventilation systems : Ozonolysis of monoterpenes

    Author : Jerker Fick; Barbro Andersson; Charles Weschler; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; Monoterpene; Ozone; OH Radical; Ozonolysis; Ventilation; Potassium Iodide; Experimental Design; Heat Exchanger; Miljökemi; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Abstract : Chemicals in indoor air, either emitted from a source or from a reaction, have been suggested to cause ill health in buildings. However, no clear correlations between exposure and health effects have been made. In this thesis we studied the reaction between monoterpenes, a group of biogenic unsaturated C10 hydrocarbons, and ozone. READ MORE

  2. 2. Physical and Chemical Processes in the Formation of Biogenic secondary Organic Aerosols

    Author : Åsa M. Jonsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tropospheric chemistry; monoterpenes; ozonolysis; secondary organic aerosol SOA ; G-FROST; AIDA; humidity; temperature; hydroxyl radicals; volatility; pinonaldehyde; climate and health;

    Abstract : Vegetation emits a vast number of biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOC). In the atmosphere they are oxidised, predominantly by O3, OH radicals or NO3 radicals, depending e.g. on chemical structure. READ MORE

  3. 3. Formation, ageing and thermal properties of secondary organic aerosol

    Author : Eva U. Emanuelsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; volatile organic compounds; biogenic; anthropogenic; secondary organic aerosol; troposphere; volatility; ozone;

    Abstract : In order to properly represent and predict the effects of aerosol in climate systems, an accurate description of their formation and properties is needed. This thesis describes work done to increase the knowledge of processes and properties of atmospherically relevant secondary organic aerosol (SOA) from both biogenic and anthropogenic origin. 4. 4. Theoretical studies of response properties of organic molecules

    Author : Anders Bernhardsson; Beräkningskemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; kvantkemi; Teoretisk kemi; Theoretical chemistry; quantum chemistry;

    Abstract : In this thesis eight papers are presented. They represent development of theory and implementation technique in quantum chemistry, as well applications. The first two papers describe advances in geometry optimization techniques. READ MORE

  5. 5. Structural Modifications of Lignosulphonates

    Author : Dimitri Areskogh; Gunnar Henriksson; Arthur J. Ragauskas; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Abstract : Lignosulphonates are by‐products from the sulphite pulping process for the manufacture ofspecialty dissolving pulps and paper. During the liberation of the cellulose, the lignin isfractionated and solubilised through covalent addition of sulphonic acid groups at variouspositions in the structure. READ MORE
