1. Investigation of RNase P active site residues and catalytic domain interaction
Abstract : RNase P is an essential endoribonuclease responsible for the maturation of the tRNA 5’end. The RNase P family encompasses the ribozyme based, RNase P RNP, and proteinaceous RNase P (PRORP). The ribozyme based RNase P is widely distributed in most species while PRORP has so far mainly been found in some eukaryotic cells. READ MORE

2. Spatial control of mRNA stability in yeast
Abstract : The degradation of mRNA is an important modulator of gene expression and the ultimate fate of messenger mRNA. Important steps in the degradation of mRNA include initial shortening of its poly(A) tail followed by the subsequent removal of the m7G cap. These two processes are linked temporally as well as spatially. READ MORE

3. Colorectal cancer treatment and early response evaluation : how do we best evaluate treatment response?
Abstract : Colorectal cancer (CRC) is common, being responsible for around 12% of new cancers in Sweden, and contributing heavily to the large numbers of cancer deaths yearly. CRC is the second most common cause of cancer death not only in Sweden but also worldwide. READ MORE

4. Eosinophil Cationic Protein : Expression Levels and Polymorphisms
Abstract : The eosinophil cationic protein (ECP) is usually associated with the eosinophil granulocyte. In this thesis the presence and production of this protein has been studied in two other cells. The circulating monocyte was found to contain ECP mRNA and small amounts of ECP, one thousand times less than that found in the eosinophil. READ MORE

5. tRNA Gene Structures in Bacteria
Abstract : In bacteria, tRNA molecules are produced as precursors with additional nucleotides both upstream and downstream of the tRNA coding sequence. To generate a mature tRNA, the endoribonuclease RNase P removes the upstream sequence, while a number of enzymes can remove the downstream sequence. READ MORE
