  1. 1. P2P Live Video Streaming

    Author : Ilias Chatzidrossos; Gunnar Karlsson; Marco Mellia; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; p2p systems; live streaming; mesh-based systems; Telecommunication; Telekommunikation;

    Abstract : The ever increasing demand for video content directed the focus of researchfrom traditional server-based schemes to peer-to-peer systems for videodelivery. In such systems, video data is delivered to the users by utilizing theresources of the users themselves, leading to a potentially scalable solution. READ MORE

  2. 2. Distributed Optimization of P2P Media Delivery Overlays

    Author : Amir H. Payberah; Seif Haridi; Alberto Montresor; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; P2P overlay networks; P2P live streaming; Distributed optimization; Electronics; Elektronik; Computer and systems science; Data- och systemvetenskap;

    Abstract : Media streaming over the Internet is becoming increasingly popular. Currently, most media is delivered using global content-delivery networks, providing a scalable and robust client-server model. However, content delivery infrastructures are expensive. READ MORE

  3. 3. A System, Tools and Algorithms for Adaptive HTTP-live Streaming on Peer-to-peer Overlays

    Author : Roberto Roverso; Seif Haridi; Jim Dowling; Alberto Montresor; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; peer-to-peer; distributed caching; nat traversal; congestion control; adaptive HTTP streaming; live streaming; SRA - ICT; SRA - Informations- och kommunikationsteknik;

    Abstract : In recent years, adaptive HTTP streaming protocols have become the de facto standard in the industry for the distribution of live and video-on-demand content over the Internet. In this thesis, we solve the problem of distributing adaptive HTTP live video streams to a large number of viewers using peer-to-peer (P2P) overlays. READ MORE

  4. 4. Live Streaming in P2P and Hybrid P2P-Cloud Environments for the Open Internet

    Author : Amir H. Payberah; Seif Haridi; Anwitaman Datta; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Peer-to-Peer (P2P) live media streaming is an emerging technology that reduces the barrier to stream live events over the Internet. However, providing a high quality media stream using P2P overlay networks is challenging and gives raise to a number of issues: (i) how to guarantee quality of the service (QoS) in the presence of dynamism, (ii) how to incentivize nodes to participate in media distribution, (iii) how to avoid bottlenecks in the overlay, and (iv) how to deal with nodes that reside behind Network Address Translators gateways (NATs). 5. 5. Live Streaming Performance of Peer-to-Peer Systems

    Author : Ilias Chatzidrossos; György Dán; Renato Lo Cigno; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : In peer-to-peer (P2P) live streaming systems peers organize themselves in an overlay and contributewith their resources to help diffuse live content to all peers in a timely manner. The performanceof such systems is usually characterized by the delay-loss curve, which quantifies theplayback delay required for achieving a certain streaming quality, expressed as the chunk missingratio at the peers.
