1. High temperature galling : influencing parameters and mechanisms
Abstract : Damage of forming tools at elevated temperatures is a major problem in metal forming processes such as hot stamping. Of special importance is the occurrence of adhesion and gross material transfer from the work-piece to the tool surface, a phenomenon known as galling. READ MORE

2. Carbon nanofiller reinforced UHMWPE for orthopaedic applications : optimization of manufacturing parameters
Abstract : Polymer composites research designed for orthopaedic applications are commonly focused on Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) reinforced by a variety of different nanoparticles. However, the high melt viscosity of UHMWPE renders conventional melt mixing techniques impossible for composite manufacturing. READ MORE

3. Estimation of synchronization parameters
Abstract : This thesis deals with the estimation of synchronization parameters in {Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing} (OFDM) communication systems and in active ultrasonic measuring systems. Estimation methods for the timing and frequency offset and for the attenuation taps of the frequency selective channel are presented and investigated. READ MORE

4. Resistance breathing with PEP and CPAP : effects on respiratory parameters
Abstract : Background: Positive expiratory pressure (PEP) and continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) are two forms of resistance breathing used in spontaneously breathing patients. With a threshold resistor or a flow resistor, both PEP and CPAP provide a positive (elevated) pressure level during the expiratory phase. READ MORE

5. Parameters in wet grinding : the influence of process variables on autogenous and conventional grinding
Abstract : The effects of autogenous and conventional grinding on the liberation of particles have been studied on the laboratory, pilot and industrial scales. It appears that autogenous grinding, down to flotation fineness, results in a higher degree of liberation and smoother particle surface for flotation, than is obtained with conventional grinding.
