  1. 1. The Evaluability Hypothesis : The Syntax and Semantics of Polarity Item Licensing in Swedish

    Author : Johan Brandtler; Svenska; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; downward entailment; long-distance; wh-questions; edge-feature; Spec-CP; negation; NPIs; PPIs; veridicality; term logic;

    Abstract : This dissertation is concerned with the empirical and theoretical aspects of polarity item licensing in Swedish. I argue that polarity items are semantically sensitive to evaluability, a concept that refers to the possibility of accepting or rejecting a clause as true in a communicative exchange. Clauses are either evaluable or non-evaluable. READ MORE

  2. 2. Proton pump inhibitors: indications and acid rebound

    Author : Anna Niklasson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Proton pump inhibitors; indications; gastrointestinal symptoms; overuse; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; acid rebound hypersecretion; gastroesophageal reflux disease;

    Abstract : Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are nowadays the therapy of choice in the management of a variety of upper gastrointestinal (GI) conditions particularly gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Previous studies indicate that patients commonly receive PPIs without clear indications. READ MORE

  3. 3. Exploring conditional motif-based protein interactions in health and disease

    Author : Johanna Kliche; Ylva Ivarsson; Ulrich Stelzl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ProP-PD; protein-protein interaction; short linear motif; phosphorylation; disease mutation; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : Protein-protein interactions (PPIs) orchestrate a variety of cellular events, ranging from signal transduction, scaffolding to subcellular localisation. A subclass of PPIs is mediated by short linear motifs, which are short amino acid stretches found in the intrinsically disordered regions of the proteome. READ MORE

  4. 4. Exploration of analytical methods to study motif-mediated host-virus protein-protein interactions

    Author : Eszter Kassa; Ylva Ivarsson; Gilles Travé; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; protein-protein interaction; short linear motif; affinity purification-mass spectrometry; virus; SARS-CoV-2; TBEV; Analytical Chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Proteins are responsible for countless processes in living creatures, but most often they do not perform these tasks alone. Rather, they engage in interactions with other proteins, creating whole protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks. READ MORE

  5. 5. Migraine comorbidities : Associations with psychiatric and gastrointestinal disorders

    Author : Nike Welander; Jessica Mwinyi; Mattias Linde; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Migraine; Comorbidity; Psychiatric disorders; Gastrointestinal disorders; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Abstract : Migraine is a prevalent neurological disorder with a complex pathophysiology. One factor that potentially complicates migraine treatment is comorbidity between migraine and other disorders, including psychiatric and gastrointestinal disorders. READ MORE
