  1. 1. Moisture content profiles and surface phenomena during drying of wood

    Author : Anders Rosenkilde; KTH; []
    Keywords : computer tomography; diffusion; magnetic resonance; moisture measurement; moisture profiles; surface emission; wood drying;

    Abstract : Timber drying is one of the most important processes whenmanufacturing sawn timber products. The drying processinfluences deformations, surface checking, discoloration andhence, the product quality and the manufacturing costs. READ MORE

  2. 2. ‘No worries’ : A longitudinal study of fear, attitudes and beliefs about childbirth from a cohort of Australian and Swedish women

    Author : Helen Haines; Christine Rubertsson; Ingegerd Hildingsson; Julie F. Pallant; Elsa-Lena Ryding; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Fear of birth; attitudes; beliefs; Australia; Sweden; cluster analysis; profiles; Obstetrik och gynekologi; Obstetrics and Gynaecology;

    Abstract : Much is known about childbirth fear in Sweden including its relationship to caesarean birth. Less is understood about this in Australia. Sweden has half the rate of caesarean birth compared to Australia. Little has been reported about women’s beliefs and attitudes to birth in either country. READ MORE

    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Accelerated ageing; Activation energy; Annealing; Cables; Dehydrochlorination; Dismantling; DSC; Elongation at break; Emissions; Energy recovery; Flooring; Heat ageing; Lifetime; Orientation; Physical ageing; Plasticised PVC; Plasticiser depletion; Profiles; Recycling; Repeated extrusion; Residual stability; Rigid PVC; Sustainable building; Chlorination; Degradation; Durability; Mechanical properties; Plastic building materials; Plasticizers; Stabilizers agents ; Tensile properties; Molecular level; Polyvinyl chlorides;

    Abstract : The potential for recycling various polymeric materials contained within buildings constructed in the late 1960s and 1970s in Sweden was investigated during the course of this work. Three residential blocks were studied to establish the quantity of materials available for recycling, to investigate the difficulty in and time needed for the dismantling of the buildings, the degree of purity of the materials, and the possibility of separating the materials. 4. 4. Water Absorption in Two-Layer Masonry Systems - Properties, profiles and predictions

    Author : Peter Johansson; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; moisture-diffusivities; masonry; measuremets; moisture-profiles; Material technology; simulations; sorption-isotherms; Materiallära; materialteknik;

    Abstract : The main impetus for this research was the desire to verify models for determining transient moisture profiles in the capillary range. For the evaluations, transient moisture profiles were both simulated and measured, after which the results of the two methods were compared. READ MORE

    Abstract : The electric power systems are currently being transformed through the integration of intermittent renewable energy resources and new types of electric loads. These developments run the risk of increasing mismatches between electricity supply and demand, and may cause non-favorable utilization rates of some power system components. READ MORE
