  1. 1. Anaerobic digestion in the kraft pulp and paper industry : Challenges and possibilities for implementation

    Author : Eva-Maria Ekstrand; Bo H Svensson; Annika Björn (Fredriksson); David Bastviken; Jukka Rintala; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Pulp and paper; anaerobic digestion; fibre sludge; activated sludge; condensates; bleaching wastewater; wastewater treatment; methane; degradability; nutrient recirculation; Pappers- och massa; anaerob nedbrytning; fiberslam; aktivt slam; kondensat; vattenrening; metan; nedbrytbarhet; näringsåterföring;

    Abstract : The pulp and paper industry is a large producer of wastewater and sludge, putting high pressure on waste treatment. In addition, more rigorous environmental legislation for pollution control and demands to increase the use of renewable energy have put further pressure on the pulp and paper industry’s waste treatment, where anaerobic digestion (AD) and the production of methane could pose a solution. 2. 2. Some factors affecting the amount of residual phase lignin during kraft pulping

    Author : Mikael E. Lindström; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Deligniflcation; Residual phase lignin; Hydrogensulfide ion; Hydroxide ion; Polysulfides; Ionic strength; Temperature; Lignin; Kraftpulping; Selectivity; viscosity; Kappa number; chemical degradation; Disproportionation; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik;

    Abstract : The amount of lignin which needs to be removed according to the slow residual delignification phase in kraft pulping, i e residual phase lignin, has been studied as a function of the process conditions. The variebles studied were the concentrations of hydroxide ions, hydrogensulfide ions, sodium ions (ionic strength) and temperature. READ MORE

  3. 3. Some aspects on TCF-bleachability of softwood alkaline pulps

    Author : Karin Sjöström; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bleachability; chlorine-free bleaching; softwoods; kraft pulps; alkaline sulfite pulps; oxygen; hydrogen peroxide; ozone; hydrogen sulfide ion; hydroxide ion; temperature; sodium ion.; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik;

    Abstract : The bleachability of softwood oxygen delignified pulps has been studied, i.e. the ease (requirement of bleaching chemicals) with which the pulps can be brightened to a target brightness in totally chlorine free (TCF) bleaching stages, including hydrogen peroxide, ozone and chelating agent stages. 4. 4. 3-D Forming of Paper Materials

    Author : Eric Linvill; Sören Östlund; Artem Kulachenko; Leif A. Carlsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; 3-D forming; finite element method; constitutive model; moisture; temperature; biaxial; hydroforming; deep drawing; 3D formning; finita elementmetoden; konstitutiv modell; fukt; temperatur; biaxiell; hydroformning; djupdragning; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Abstract : Paper materials have a long history of use as a packaging material, although traditional paper-based packaging is limited in its shape, complexity, and design. In order to better understand the deformation and failure mechanisms during 3-D forming, two experimental studies of paper materials have been conducted. READ MORE

  5. 5. Development of Finite Element Models for 3-D Forming Processes of Paper and Paperboard

    Author : Eric Linvill; Sören Östlund; Johan Tryding; KTH; []
