  1. 1. Kinetic Measurements Using Nanoplasmonic Sensing

    Author : Markus Schwind; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sn Nanoparticles; Sensing; Localized Surface Plasmon Resonances; Particle Plasmon; Metal Oxidation; Metal Corrosion; Solid-Liquid Phase Transition; Kinetics; Al Nanoparticles;

    Abstract : In this thesis the nanoplasmonic sensing technique was used to study kinetics of (i) the oxidation of Al nanoparticles in air and water and (ii) the solid-liquid phase transition in Sn nanoparticles. The nanoplasmonic sensing technique detects changes of the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) in metal nanoparticles. READ MORE

  2. 2. Miniaturized localized surface plasmon resonance biosensors

    Author : Si Chen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; colloidal lithography; Surface plasmon resonance; biosensing; electron beam lithography; single molecule; hyperspectral imaging; photo functionalization;

    Abstract : Abstract Reliable and sensitive biosensors are required for fast and accurate diagnostics. Localized surface plasmon resonances (LSPRs) in noble-metal nanoparticles possess very high refractive index sensitivity close to the metal surface and therefore constitute an attractive biosensing platform. 3. 3. Combining Nanoplasmonics and Nanofluidics for Single Particle Catalysis

    Author : David Albinsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; heterogeneous catalysis; CO oxidation; plasmonic sensing; dark field scattering spectroscopy; nanocatalyst; LSPR; single particle catalysis; nanofluidics; nanoreactor; Cu oxidation;

    Abstract : Nanoparticles are, due to their large exposed surface area, widely used in the field of heterogeneous catalysis where they accelerate and steer chemical reactions. Although catalysis has been known about for centuries, the scrutiny of catalysts under realistic application conditions is still a major challenge. READ MORE

  4. 4. Quantum Kinetic Theory for Plasmas : spin, exchange, and particle dispersive effects

    Author : Robin Ekman; Gert Brodin; Jens Zamanian; Bengt Eliasson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; teoretisk fysik; Theoretical Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis is about developing and studying quantum mechanical models of plasmas. Quantum effects can be important at high densities, at low temperatures, and in strong electromagnetic fields, in various laboratory and astrophysical systems. READ MORE

  5. 5. Surface Plasmon Photonics: From Optical Properties of Nanoparticles to Single Molecule Surface-enhanced Raman Scattering

    Author : Hongxing Xu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; nanoparticles; nanostructures; Mie theory; surface plasmon; surface-enhanced Raman scattering; single molecule spectroscopy;

    Abstract : With the rapid development of nanoscience and nanotechnology, surface plasmon photonics using metal nanoparticles and nanostructures gain increasing interest, not only for fundamental scientific studies, but also for electronic, optical, and sensor applications. In the nanoscale, the physical and chemical properties of metallic particles, especially their optical properties, strongly depend on size and shape, as well as on surrounding media and structures.
