  1. 11. Selective extraction systems for detection and purification of membrane proteins

    University dissertation from Ulf Sivars, Department of Biochemistry, Center for Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Lund University

    Author : Ulf Sivars; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2000]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Aqueous two-phase systems; partitioning; separation; membrane proteins; detergent; micelle; polymer; Biochemistry; affinity; Metabolism; Biokemi;

    Abstract : Increased understanding of membrane proteins is important for characterization of biochemical processes. Improved membrane protein isolation methods is a key issue for effective functional and structural determination of the large amount of unknown membrane proteins. READ MORE

  2. 12. Chromatographic Studies of Solute Interactions with Immobilized Red Blood Cells and Biomembranes

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Ingo Gottschalk; Uppsala universitet.; [2002]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Affinity; Binding; Biomembrane; Biotin; Chromatography; Cytochalasin B; Dissociation constant; Drug absorption; Equilibrium; Glucose; GLUT1; Immobilization; Immobilized biomembrane affinity chromatography; Immobilized liposome chromatography; Interaction; Liposome; Membrane protein; Membrane vesicle; Partitioning; Phospholipid bilayer; Proteoliposome; Quantitative; Red blood cell; Solute; Specific; Streptavidin; Wheat germ agglutinin; Biokemi; NATURAL SCIENCES Chemistry Biochemistry; NATURVETENSKAP Kemi Biokemi; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : Specific and non-specific interactions of solutes with immobilized biomembranes were studied using chromatographic methods. Liposomes, proteoliposomes and red blood cell (RBC) membrane vesicles were immobilized by a freeze-thawing procedure, whereas whole RBCs were adsorbed in the gel beds using electrostatic interaction, binding to wheat germ agglutinin (WGA) or the streptavidin-biotin interaction. 3. 13. Rational and combinatorial genetic engineering approaches for improved recombinant protein production and purification

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Bioteknologi

    Author : Nina Bandmann; KTH.; [2007]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aqueous two-phase system; combinatorial library; expression vector; flow cytometry; fusion tag; partitioning; peptide library; phage display; recombinant proteins; ribosomal binding site; translation initiation; TECHNOLOGY Bioengineering; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Bioteknik;

    Abstract : The bacterium Escherichia coli (E. coli) is in many situations an ideal host for production of recombinant proteins, since it generally provides a rapid and economical means to achieve sufficiently high product quantities. READ MORE

  4. 14. Distribution and chemical association of trace elements in incinerator residues and mining waste from a leaching perspective

    University dissertation from Örebro : Örebro university

    Author : Naeem Saqib; Örebro universitet.; [2016]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; trace elements; partitioning; fly ash; bottom ash; speciation; association; risk assessment; wood waste; incineration; mining waste; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : Incineration is a mainstream strategy for solid waste management in Sweden and all over the world. Improved knowledge and understanding about the distribution of trace elements (in ashes) during incineration, and how trace element partitioning respond to the changes in waste composition, are important in terms of combustion process optimization and plant efficiency. 5. 15. Interpretation of diagnostic information given patient characteristics

    University dissertation from Örebro : Örebro university

    Author : Martin Gellerstedt; Göteborgs universitet.; University of Gothenburg.; [2006]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN; MEDICINE; reference values; diagnostic theory; diagnostic tests; partitioning; prevalence function;

    Abstract : The aim with this thesis was to describe, exemplify and develop theory for reference values and diagnostic tests, especially focusing on the variability between individuals. To facilitate interpretation of medical information it is common to establish some kind of limit. There are several different rationales for the choice of such a limit. READ MORE
