  1. 1. Magnetic Refrigeration for Near Room-Temperature Applications

    Author : Behzad A Monfared; Björn Palm; Joachim Claesson; Andrew Rowe; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Magnetic Refrigeration; Magnetic; Cooling; Magnetocaloric; Life Cycle Assessment; Modeling; Simulation; Optimization; Regeneration; Active Magnetic Regeneration; Bonded Regenerator; Heat Switch; Thermal Diode; Peltier; Solid-State; Prototype; Magnetisk Kylteknik; Magnetisk; Kylning; Magnetokalorisk; Livscykela-nalys; Modellering; Simulering; Optimering; Regenerering; Aktiv Mag-netisk Regenerering; Bunden Regenerator; Värmebrytare; Termodiod; Peltier; Solid-State; Prototyp; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : Refrigeration plays a crucial role in many different sectors and consumes about 17% of the electricity produced globally. This significant energy consumption implies large share of refrigeration in primary energy consumption and other environmental impacts. READ MORE

  2. 2. Growth and thermoelectric properties of CaMnO3-based thin films

    Author : Erik Ekström; Per Eklund; Fredrik Eriksson; Biplab Paul; Erik Lewin; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The field of them1oelectrics started in early 19th century. Since the discovery of the Seebeck effect and the Peltier effect, thermoelectric modules have found their way into, mostly, niche applications such as radioisotope thermoelectric generators on space missions. READ MORE

  3. 3. Capillary electrophoresis mass spectrometry applied to structural proteomics and small molecule analysis

    Author : Jordan Aerts; Erik T. Jansson; Per E. Andrén; Petr Man; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Capillary Electrophoresis Mass Spectrometry; Hydrogen Deuterium Exchange Mass Spectrometry; Enantioselective Separations; Drugs of Abuse; Analytical Chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytisk farmaceutisk kemi; Analytical Pharmaceutical Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot analytisk kemi; Chemistry with specialization in Analytical Chemistry; Biology with specialization in Structural Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot strukturbiologi;

    Abstract : Capillary electrophoresis with mass spectrometric (CE–MS) detection offers a separation method without equal in terms of flexibility, utility, and cost efficiency. Here we demonstrate precisely this through the application of several laboratory-built CE–MS instruments for the separation of brain metabolites in non-primates, enantioselective separations of synthetic anesthetic metabolites in fractionated pony urine, application in structural proteomics workflows, and identification of exogenous alkaloid biotransformationproducts in human cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). 4. 4. Design of Thermoelectric Generators for Automotive EGR Applications

    Author : Olle Högblom; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Contact resistances; Exhaust gas heat recovery; Thermoelectrics; CFD;

    Abstract : Rising energy prices and greater environmental awareness along with stringent emissions legislation in the automotive industry make it possible to introduce techniques in the aftertreatment system that have previously been unprofitable. One such technique, studied in this work, is heat recovery in the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler using thermoelectric generators (TEG). READ MORE

  5. 5. Design of Transition-Metal Nitride Thin Films for Thermoelectrics

    Author : Sit Kerdsongpanya; Per Eklund; Björn Alling; Gunilla Wingqvist; Lars Hultman; Daniel Gall; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Thermoelectric devices are one of the promising energy harvesting technologies, because of their ability to convert heat (temperature gradient) to electricity by the Seebeck effect. Furthermore, thermoelectric devices can be used for cooling or heating by the inverse effect (Peltier effect). READ MORE
