  1. 1. Forest reindeer herding A.D. 1-1800 : an archaeological and palaeoecological study in northern Sweden

    Author : Kjell-Åke Aronsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Domestication; hearth; herding; nomadism; pastoralism; pollen analysis; reindeer; reindeer pen; Saami; settlement pattern; Renskötsel; Renskötsel-- Arkeologi -- Sverige -- 1-1800 e.Kr.; Renskötsel-- Paleoekologi -- Sverige -- 1-1800 e.Kr.;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with reindeer domestication and herding in northern Sweden. The work is focussed on the introduction of forest reindeer herding but this problem is discussed in a wider economic and cultural context.The archaeological material is considered from sourcecritical aspects. 2. 2. Design of Functional Degradable Aliphatic Polyesters and Porous Tissue Engineering Scaffolds

    Author : Peter Plikk; Ann-Christine Albertsson; Marek Kowalczuk; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ring-opening polymerization; Stannous octoate; 2; 2’-azoisobutyronitrile; 1; 5-dioxepane-2-one; ε-caprolactone; L-lactide; Trimethylene carbonate; 2-methylene-1; 3-dioxe-5-pene; Copolymer; Porous scaffold; Porous tubular scaffold; Electron beam; Gamma irradiation; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Abstract : The regeneration of damaged tissues or organs using porous scaffolds which act as temporary guides for the patient’s own cells, i.e. tissue engineering, is a means to overcome the shortcomings of current standard medical treatments. READ MORE

  3. 3. Parietal cell regeneration in rat gastric mucosal wounds : a quantitative light and electron microscopical study

    Author : Håkan Blom; Herbert Helander; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rat; gastric mucosa; gastric wounds; parietal cells; regeneration; pyloroplasty; truncal vagotomy; antrectomy; pentagastrin; cimetidine; carbacholine; stereology; light microscopy; electron microscopy; pH-studies;

    Abstract : The aims of the study were to obtain a method with which it would be possible to produce standardized wounds in the gastric mucosa, and to follow the regeneration of the acid producing parietal cells in those lesions during different experimental conditions. Quantitative methods applied to light and electron microscopy were used. READ MORE

  4. 4. Use of Recombinant Allergens for Component-Resolved Diagnostics (CRD) in IgE-Mediated Allergy

    Author : Åsa Marknell DeWitt; Pia Ek; Jonas Lidholm; Ronald van Ree; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Biomedical laboratory science; recombinant allergen; IgE; component-resolved diagnostics; CRD; tropomyosin; Phl p 11; Phl p 4; Pen a 1; Hev b 5; Biomedicinsk laboratorievetenskap;

    Abstract : Immunoglobulin E (IgE)-mediated allergy occurs when our immune system causes a reaction to otherwise harmless substances (allergens). Allergens are predominantly proteins present in biological materials such as pollens, mites, animal epithelia, moulds and foods. READ MORE

  5. 5. A first sketch of Computer Aided Ideation : Exploring CAD tools as externalization media in design ideation

    Author : Philip Ekströmer; Renee Wever; Johan Ölvander; Peter Törlind; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Even though Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools have changed the way designers work in most parts of the design process, designers still mostly use pen-and-paper sketching when generating design ideas. Previous studies exploring the use of CAD tools for design ideation have concluded that the tools available at the time did not support reflective conversation, serendipitous interpretation and creativity, making them unsuited for design ideation.
