  1. 1. Structural Information Content of the Optical Field

    Author : Per Martinsson; Ari Friberg; Karl-Heinz Brenner; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Photonics; Fotonik;

    Abstract :  The communication modes are a mathematical technique for the description of structural information in optical fields. These modes are orthogonal, optimally  connected functions characteristic of the optical system. Mathematically they are obtained by the singular value decomposition (SVD) of the operator that represents the field propagation. READ MORE

  2. 2. Fcγ-receptors in systemic autoimmune conditions : lessons from murine mercury-induced autoimmunity

    Author : Klara Martinsson; Per Hultman; Karin Cederbrant; Johan Rönnelid; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : In this thesis we investigated the role of activating (FcγRI, FcγRIII) and inhibitory (FcγRIIB) Fcγ-receptors on systemic autoimmunity using two mouse strains, DBA/1 (H-2q) and BALB/c mice (H-2d), susceptible to induction of autoimmunity by mercury (Hg).Fc-receptors for IgG (FcγR) link cellular and humoral immune responses, control the balance between activating and inhibitory immune responses and are important in the development of several autoimmune diseases. 3. 3. Quality improvement in palliative care : the role of a national quality register and perceptions of information during palliative chemotherapy

    Author : Lisa Martinsson; Bertil Axelsson; Christina Melin-Johansson; Per Fransson; Kerstin Sandelin; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cancer; chemotherapy; communication; end-of-life care; oncology; palliative care; palliative medicine; quality in healthcare; quality register; onkologi; Oncology;

    Abstract : IntroductionThere is a need in palliative care for development of structured methods to assess quality and support improvement. This need is present both within and outside specialised palliative care.Honest information from physicians is regarded as an important part of palliative care. READ MORE

  4. 4. Secretory Autoantibodies in Rheumatoid Arthritis

    Author : Karin Roos Ljungberg; Alf Kastbom; Anna Svärd; Klara Martinsson; Jonas Wetterö; Per-Johan Jakobsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rheumatoid arthritis; Secretory autoantibodies; Immunoglobulins; Anti-citrullinated protein antibodies; ACPA; Mucosal immunity;

    Abstract : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease in which autoantibodies, such as anti-citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPA), can be detected in the serum of patients. Autoantibodies may appear in the circulation years before clinical signs of joint inflammation occur, indicating that early immunological pathogenetic steps take place outside of the joints. 5. 5. Development and Evaluation of Methods in Source Apportionment of the Carbonaceous Aerosol

    Author : Johan Martinsson; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; carbonaceous aerosol; organic aerosol; aerosol particles; source apportionment; air pollution;

    Abstract : Carbonaceous aerosols are known to affect human health negatively and to affect the climate of Earth. As specific types of aerosols originate from specific sources, it is important to know the amount of aerosols emitted from each source. Aerosol source apportionment is an important tool in mitigating air pollution and improving air quality. READ MORE
