  1. 1. Progression in Glaucoma

    Author : Hanna Maria Öhnell; Oftalmologi (Malmö); []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; glaucoma; visual fields; perimetry; diagnosis; progression; Optical Coherence Tomography OCT ; optic disc photography;

    Abstract : The treatment of glaucoma is focused on reducing the intraocular pressure to a level at which progression is impeded. A diagnosis of glaucoma is not considered certain until progression is confirmed, and thus detecting progression is a central aspect in both the diagnosing and the monitoring of glaucoma patients. 2. 2. Intraocular pressure : clinical aspects and new measurement methods

    Author : Gauti Jóhannesson; Christina Lindén; Per Hallberg; Anders Eklund; Boel Bengtsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Intraocular pressure; glaucoma; tonometry; ISO; LASEK; CCT; curvature; Ophtalmiatrics; Oftalmiatrik; Ophtalmology; oftalmiatrik;

    Abstract : Intraocular pressure (IOP) measurement is a routine procedure and a fundament in glaucoma care. Elevated IOP is the main risk factor for glaucoma, and to date, reduction of IOP is the only possible treatment. In a retrospective clinical material, the prevalence of open angle glaucoma was estimated on the west coast of Iceland. READ MORE

  3. 3. Diagnosing and monitoring open-angle glaucoma. Pupillometry and other novel techniques

    Author : Lada Kalaboukhova; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : open-angle glaucoma; relative afferent pupillary defect; pupillometer; visual field; Frequency Doubling Technology Perimetry; High-pass Resolution Perimetry; Heidelberg Retina Tomography;

    Abstract : Aim:To investigate the ability of a custom-built pupillometer and other novel diagnostic instruments to detect and monitor optic nerve damage in glaucoma.Methods:In the first two studies we investigated pupillary reactions to light in patients with glaucoma and in healthy persons using a custom-built pupillometer. 4. 4. Investigations or perimetry and gaze-stability in healthy and deceased retina

    Author : Fredrik Källmark; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Microperimetry; fixation gaze pattern; scanning laser ophthalmoscope; visual field; scotoma; eclipse retinopathy.;

    Abstract : Our visual world is composed of images of colours, textures, edges and contrasts. In addition, these images may be moving or flickering. The goal of visual testing is to quantify these functions. READ MORE

  5. 5. The Rarebit fovea test : a new measure of visual function

    Author : Maria Nilsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Rarebit Fovea Test; Rarebit Perimetry; foveal function; fixation; diabetes; cataract; binocular summation;

    Abstract : Visual acuity (VA) measurement by the use of letter charts is the most frequently used method for testing foveal function. However, since a decimal visual acuity of 1. READ MORE
