1. Vascular remodelling and circulating basement membrane fragments in abdominal aortic aneurysm
Abstract : An abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a degenerative disease, characterized by advanced inflammation and extracellular matrix (ECM) remodelling. Enhanced protease activity mediated by cytokines results in the degradation of ECM proteins, leading to the generation of different bioactive fragments. READ MORE

2. Immune mechanisms in atherosclerotic vascular disease
Abstract : Atherosclerosis has been categorized as an inflammatory disorder, with similar chronic inflammatory conditions found in rheumatoid arthritis. It entails an unregulated accumulation of lipids in the vessel wall, which leads to the development of cardiovascular diseases. READ MORE

3. Effects of the angiotensin II type 1 receptor blocker (AT₁ receptor blocker) candesartan cilexetil on systemic and renal haemodynamics in hypertensive patients
Abstract : Established primary hypertension is primarily characterised by elevated peripheral resistance and an increase in renal vascular resistance. Antagonism of angiotensin II may be a particularly relevant intervention in this condition, as angiotensin II is known to act both as a powerful vasoconstrictor and as a stimulus to vascular hyperthrophy. 4. Circulating immune complexes in atherosclerotic vascular disease
Abstract : We have investigated the association of the humoral immune factors circulating immune complexes (CICs) and autoantibodies against cardiolipin (aCL) and oxidatively modified LDL (oxLDL) to atherosclerotic vascular diseases. In a prospective nested case-control study, in which healthy 50-year-old men were followed for 20 years, the prevalence of elevated CICs and the concentration of CICs were higher in men who developed myocardial infarction. 5. Platelets – Multifaceted players in tumor progression and vascular function
Abstract : Platelets play a crucial role for blood hemostasis, the process that prevents bleeding. In addition, platelets have been demonstrated to promote cancer progression and cancer related complications like metastasis and thrombosis. READ MORE
