  1. 1. Realistic simulations of delta wing aerodynamics using novel CFD methods

    Author : Stefan Görtz; Arthur Rizzi; Miguel Visbal; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Space and plasma physics; CFD; aerodynamics; flow physics; steady; unsteady; delta wing; vortical flow; Rymd- och plasmafysik; Space physics; Rymdfysik;

    Abstract : The overall goal of the research presented in this thesis is to extend the physical understanding of the unsteady external aerodynamics associated with highly maneuverable delta-wing aircraft by using and developing novel, more efficient computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools. More specific, the main purpose is to simulate and better understand the basic fluid phenomena, such as vortex breakdown, that limit the performance of delta-wing aircraft. READ MORE

  2. 2. Analysis of the cold flow field in a rotary kiln

    Author : Sofia Larsson; Lisa Prahl Wittberg; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Strömningslära; Fluid Mechanics;

    Abstract : The pelletizing process where the crude ore from the mine is upgraded to pellets is a process which includes several stages involving complex fluid dynamics. In this thesis, focus is on the grate-kiln pelletizing process and especially on the rotary kiln, with the objective to get a deeper understanding of the aerodynamics and its influence on the combustion process. 3. 3. Analytical Aerodynamic Simulation Tools for Vertical Axis Wind Turbines

    Author : Paul Deglaire; Hans Bernhoff; Olov Ågren; Staffan Lundstrom; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; vertical axis turbine; vortex flows; conformal mapping; analytical aerodynamics; potential flows; fast multipole methods; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik; Teknisk fysik; Engineering Science;

    Abstract : Wind power is a renewable energy source that is today the fastest growing solution to reduce CO2 emissions in the electric energy mix. Upwind horizontal axis wind turbine with three blades has been the preferred technical choice for more than two decades. This horizontal axis concept is today widely leading the market. READ MORE
