  1. 1. Lipid Signalling Dynamics in Insulin-secreting β-cells

    Author : Anne Wuttke; Anders Tengholm; Erik Gylfe; Louis Philipson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ATP; β-cell; diacylglycerol; insulin secretion; oscillations; PtdIns 4 P; PtdIns 4; 5 P2; protein kinase C; P2Y receptor; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Abstract : Certain membrane lipids are involved in intracellular signalling processes, among them phosphoinositides and diacylglycerol (DAG). They mediate a variety of functions, including the effects of nutrients and neurohormonal stimuli on insulin secretion from pancreatic β-cells. READ MORE

    Abstract : .... READ MORE

  3. 3. The role of phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate 5-kinase type І alpha (PIP5K1α) and utility of its inhibitor for targeting metastatic cancer

    Author : Martuza Sarwar; Malmö Experimentell cancerforskning; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Prostate Cancer; Breast cancer; Cancer therapy; PIP5K1A; PI3K AKT signal pathway; Kinase inhibitors;

    Abstract : Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most common cause of cancer-related death in men after lung cancer. Annually, more than 9000 new cases are diagnosed in Sweden and 2500 of them die each year. Metastatic prostate cancer can be treated with castration. READ MORE

  4. 4. Regulation of Phospholipase C and Plasma Membrane Phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate in Insulin-Secreting Cells

    Author : Sophia Thore; Anders Tengholm; Erik Gylfe; Peter Jones; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell biology; PLC; PIP2; insulin-secreting cell; Ca2 ; evanescent wave microscopy; phosphoinositide kinase; ATP ADP ratio; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi;

    Abstract : The membrane phospholipid phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2) is an important signaling molecule as substrate for the phospholipase C (PLC)-catalyzed formation of inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) and diacylglycerol, and by directly regulating e.g. ion-channels, the cytoskeleton and vesicle trafficking in various types of cells. 5. 5. Phosphatidylinositol phosphate kinases in the moss Physcomitrella patens

    Author : Laura Saavedra; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Phosphatidylinositol(4,5)bisphosphate, [PtdIns(4,5)P2], is a signalling lipid which is involved in many important processes in animal cells such as cytoskeleton organization, intracellular vesicular trafficking, secretion, cell motility, regulation of ion channels, and nuclear signalling pathways. In contrast to the animal field, much less is known about the roles of PtdIns(4,5)P2 and its synthesizing enzyme, phosphatidylinositol phosphate kinase (PtdInsP kinase), in plants. READ MORE
