  1. 16. Functionalization and characterization of surface supported lipid membranes and their application in cell culture

    Author : Dorota Thid; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cell - surface interaction; supported phospholipid bilayer; IKVAV; DHA; stem progenitor cells; neural cells; surface analytical techniques; QCM-D; surface functionalization; peptide; cell differentiation; cell attachment; membrane; fatty acid;

    Abstract : Phospholipid bilayers supported on a solid surface constitute a versatile, biomimetic platform for a variety of applications, such as biosensing, drug delivery research, cell engineering and as cell membrane mimics in fundamental cell research. Phosphocholine supported lipid bilayers are resistant to cell attachment in a wide range of conditions, and can be functionalized with bioactive signaling molecules to promote specific interactions with cells. 3. 18. Dynorphin A – Interactions with receptors and the membrane bilayer

    Author : Johannes Björnerås; Lena Mäler; Astrid Gräslund; Göran Widmalm; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biophysics; biofysik; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis concerns the dynorphin neuropeptides, and dynorphin A (DynA) in particular. DynA belongs to the wider class of typical opioid peptides that, together with the opioid receptors, a four-membered family of GPCR membrane proteins, form the opioid system. READ MORE

  4. 19. Biosensing and Protein Array Design using Lipid Assemblies

    Author : Charlotte Larsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; protein adsorption; protein arrays; lipid bilayer; SPR; scFv; lipid vesicle; DNA arrays; QCM-D;

    Abstract : Biomolecular sensing often includes immobilization of biomolecules, e.g. DNA, antibodies etc., to solid supports, where they act as selective recognition elements. READ MORE

  5. 20. Membrane-Polymer Interactions in Lipid Vesicles

    Author : Ilona Wegrzyn; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lipid nanotube; liposome; multifunctional pipette; PNIPAAm; lipid bilayer; giant unilamellar vesicle;

    Abstract : Membrane related biological processes are commonly investigated in artificial biomimetic experimental systems. One of the most versatile models is based upon giant unilamellar phospholipid vesicles (liposomes), which are artificially generated spherical lipid structures in an aqueous environment. READ MORE
