  1. 1. Phosphorus recycling from wastewater to agriculture using reactive filter media

    Author : Victor Cucarella Cabañas; Gunno Renman; Dan Berggren Kleja; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Filtra P; phosphorus; Polonite; recycling; sorption; wollastonite; Water in nature and society; Vatten i natur och samhälle;

    Abstract : This thesis focused on testing the suitability of reactive filter media used for phosphorus (P) removal from wastewater as fertilizers, thus recycling P to agriculture. The work compared the P sorption capacity of several materials in order to assess their suitability as a source of P for plants. READ MORE

  2. 2. Resource efficiency and toxic accumulation - Phosphorus recycling and societal cadmium flows

    Author : Fredrik Fredriksson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; recycling; phosphorus; societal metabolism; sustainable agriculture; cadmium;

    Abstract : .... READ MORE

  3. 3. Free-Vehicle Benthic Lander Technology for the Study of Biogeochemical Processes in Marine Sediments

    Author : Anders Tengberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; marine sediments; benthic fluxes; incubations; chambers; in-situ; benthic landers; autonomous vehicles; lander technology; hydrodynamics; calibration; experimental design; Partial Least Squares PLS ; sensors; fugacity; oxygen; carbon; nitrogen; phosphorus; silica; dissolved organic carbon DOC ; total carbonate; recycling; burial; lander technology;

    Abstract : Various sediment sampling and incubation techniques were used to characterize benthic biogeochemical processes important for an improved understanding of the oceanic carbon cycle. Recent flux data from the Arctic Siberian shelf are revealing differences (often by a factor of ten) between areas affected by the big Russian river outlets (high fluxes) and areas with low influence from land (low fluxes). 4. 4. Sustainable phosphorus removal in onsite wastewater treatment

    Author : David Eveborn; Jon Petter Gustafsson; Gunno Renman; Erik Kärrman; Paul Withers; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Onsite wastewater treatment; Soil treatment system; Phosphorus; Removal mechanisms; Environmental impacts; Life cycle assessment;

    Abstract : Aquatic eutrophication is a serious environmental problem that occurs all over the world. To protect surface waters (in particular the Baltic Sea), the regulatory pressure on onsite wastewater treatment (OWT) systems have increased in Sweden. READ MORE

  5. 5. Phosphorus recycling in brackish and marine environments - Sediment investigations in situ in the Baltic Sea and the By Fjord

    Author : Lena Viktorsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; phosphorus; sediment; anoxia; Baltic Sea; By Fjord; benthic flux;

    Abstract : The phosphorus load to the oceans from land started to increase since around 1950 when man started to mine phosphorus-mineral from phosphorus-rich soils and bedrock. The increased use of phosphorus fertilizers in agriculture together with the growth of coastal cities increased the load of phosphorus to the coastal ocean where plankton production flourished.
