1. Thermo-electric temperature measurements in friction stir welding : Towards feedback control of temperature
Abstract : Friction Stir Welding has seen a fast uptake in many industry segments. Mechanical properties superior to fusion welding, the ability to weld "unweldable" aluminium alloys and low distortion are often described as the main reasons for the fast industrial implementation of FSW. Most existing applications consist of long straight welding joints. READ MORE

2. Organization of Nanoparticles in Solution-A TEM Study
Abstract : A new approach to the study of nanoparticle systems has been introduced. Nanoparticle systems in aqueous and organic solutions have been synthesized and studied by transmission electron microscopy. These systems include nanoparticles of gold, silver, palladium, ruthenium, and platinum which have been stabilized using various ligands. READ MORE

3. Saturn's dusty equatorial ionosphere from Cassini's Grand Finale observations
Abstract : The Cassini mission provided unprecedented insights into the Kronian system and revealed many unexpected phenomena relating to dusty plasma environments around Saturn and its rings. Almost 13 years after its arrival, Cassini began a series of 22 orbits which brought it between Saturn's upper atmosphere and the innermost D ring, culminating in a final plunge into Saturn's ionosphere. 4. Characterization of iron ore green pellets by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray microtomography
Abstract : Cryogenic scanning electron microscopy (cryo-SEM), image analysis (IA) of SEM micrographs and X-ray microtomography (XMT) were used to obtain new information about the morphology of iron ore green pellets in this work. Cryo-SEM and freeze fracturing was used to observe entrapped air bubbles and arrangement of particles around the bubbles and in the matrix of wet green pellets. READ MORE

5. Development of Multi-grit cBN Grinding Wheel for Crankshaft Grinding
Abstract : Crankshaft is a geometrically challenging component to grind. Over the years a number of grinding strategies have been developed to overcome thermal damage issues and excessive wheel wear. Radial and angular plunge processes have been adopted on some of the production machines. Recently a new, temperature-based strategy, has been proposed. READ MORE
