  1. 11. Synthesis of Conjugated Polymers: Photoactive Substances for Photonic Devices

    Author : Mikael Johansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; synthesis; microcavity laser devices; electroluminescence; conjugated polymers; light-emitting diodes; photoluminescence; photooxidation; energy transfer;

    Abstract : Synthesis and characterization of conjugated polymers are the subject of this thesis, the goal of which is to synthesize polymers with properties that will make them suitable as the active materials in applications such as light-emitting diodes and microcavity laser devices. The two classes of conjugated polymers studied are poly(p-phenylenevinylenes) (PPVs) and polyfluorenes (PFs). READ MORE

  2. 12. Luminescent Polymer Films in Layered Devices : A Theoretical and Experimental Study on Light Emission from Polymer-based Devices

    Author : Thomas Granlund; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns optical modelling and characterisation of thin film layered structures, including luminescent conjugated polymers, with respect to the emission properties. Included in the study were three different types of devices: Organic light-emitting diodes, microcavities and half cavities. READ MORE

  3. 13. On the Surface of Conducting Polymers : Electrochemical Switching of Color and Wettability in Conjugated Polymer Devices

    Author : Joakim Isaksson; Magnus Berggren; Kajsa Uvdal; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Conjugated polymer; electrochemistry; surface energy; electrochromism; contact angle; Electrochemistry; Elektrokemi;

    Abstract : Since the discovery in 1977 that conjugated polymers can be doped to achieve almost metallic electronic conduction, the research field of conducting polymers has escalated, with applications such as light emitting diodes, solar cells, thin film transistors, electrochemical transistors, logic circuits and sensors. The materials can be chemically modified during their synthesis in order to tailor the desired mechanical, electronic and optical properties of the final product. READ MORE

  4. 14. Charge transport modulation in organic electronic diodes

    Author : Fredrik Lars Emil Jakobsson; Magnus Berggren; Xavier Crispin; Paul W. M. Blom; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic electronics; switch device; memory; photochromic; trapping; resistance switching; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : Since the discovery of conducting polymers three decades ago the field of organic electronics has evolved rapidly. Organic light emitting diodes have already reached the consumer market, while organic solar cells and transistors are rapidly maturing. One of the great benefits with this class of materials is that they can be processed from solution. READ MORE

  5. 15. Studies of Charge Transport and Energy Level in Solar Cells Based on Polymer/Fullerene Bulk Heterojunction

    Author : Abay Gadisa; Olle Inganäs; Vladimir Dyakonov; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bulk heterojunction; Charge transport; Space charge limited; Bipolar transport; Origin of open circuit voltage; Polymer-fullerene blend; Soft contact lamination; Polarized infrared emission; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : π-Conjugated polymers have attracted considerable attention since they are potential candidates for various opto-electronic devices such as solar cells, light emitting iodes, photodiodes, and transistors. Electronic de vices based on conjugated polymers can be easily processed at low temperature using inexpensive technologies. READ MORE
