  1. 1. Free Volume Depth Profiling at Polymer Surfaces and Interfaces

    Author : John Algers; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biopolymers; Polymerteknik; Polymer technology; polymer interfaces; polymer surfaces; positron lifetime; free volume;

    Abstract : Pulsed low energy positron beams provide a unique and non-destructive tool to depth probe the free volume of polymers at surfaces and interfaces. Since the employment of low energy positron beams in polymer research is an emerging technique, some focus in this thesis has been on extracting methods and equations needed to interpret the experimental data. 2. 2. Asymmetrical Flow Field-Flow Fractionation and Multiangle Light Scattering for Molar Mass Analysis of Polysaccharide Derivatives

    Author : Mats Andersson; Industriell Produktion; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polysaccharide derivatives ethylhydroxyethyl cellulose; molar mass analysis; asymmetrical flow field-flow fractionation; multiangle light scattering; polymer size distribution; Polymer technology; biopolymers; Polymerteknik;

    Abstract : Molar mass and molar mass distribution of polymers are parameters of fundamental importance as they influence the performance of the polymer in applications. Polysaccharide derivatives are a class of polymers that have attracted significant scientific and commercial interest as they can be manufactured from a wide range of abundant sources in nature and thereby often are both cheap and biocompatible. 3. 3. Oxidative Degradation of Polyethylene - A Cause of Off-flavour

    Author : Thorbjörn Andersson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biopolymers; Polymerteknik; Polymer technology; off-flavour; degradation; polyethylene;

    Abstract : Polyethylene is the most frequently used polymer material in food packaging today. The polymer is often processed by film extrusion and extrusion coating between 250°C and 325°C. READ MORE

  4. 4. Polymer Displacement and Supermacroporous Cryogels - Two New Tools in Chromatographic Separation of Biomolecules and Bioparticles

    Author : Pär Arvidsson; Bioteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; biopolymers; Polymerteknik; Biochemical technology; Polymer technology; IMAC; dye-affinity; affinity chromatography; viable cells; cell chromatography; non-clarified cell homogenate; cryogel; Polymer displacement; supermacroporous; Biokemisk teknik;

    Abstract : Production of protein is often accompanied with difficulties due to the large amounts of different biological material resulting from fermentation. This makes purification necessary and affinity chromatography is usually involved as being biospecific, although suffering from limitations as low recovery due to ineffective elution and inability to handle particulate materials. 5. 5. Molecularly Imprinted Polymers at the Nanometric Scale: Synthetic Receptors for Chemical Sensors

    Author : Anne-Sophie Belmont; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biopolymers; Polymer technology; Biokemisk teknik; Biochemical technology; Nanostructures; Synthetic Receptors; Optical Sensors; Molecular Imprinting; Polymer; Polymerteknik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, polymerisation techniques or deposition methods have been developed permitting the creation of thin molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) films or patterns and their interfacing with transducer surfaces for biosensor applications. The creation of ultra thin films has been achieved using two different techniques, spin-coating and in-situ polymerization of thin films of monomers containing a sacrificial polymeric porogen, and autoassembly of MIP nanoparticles with the aid of an associative linear polymer.
