1. On dopamine neurons : nerve fiber outgrowth and L-DOPA effects
Abstract : Parkinson’s disease is a disorder mainly characterized by progressive degeneration of dopamine producing neurons in the substantia nigra of the midbrain. The most commonly used treatment strategy is to pharmacologically restore the lost function by the administration of the dopaminergic precursor L-DOPA. READ MORE

2. The Role of Dopamine-Metabolising Enzymes in Renal Sodium Handling. An Experimental Study in vivo
Abstract : Dopamine (DA) has been shown to act as an intrarenal natriuretic hormone and defects in the renal DA system have been associated with some forms of hypertension. How the DA activity is upregulated durin- increased sodium intake is, however, unknown. READ MORE

3. Dopamine and the regulation of movements - significance of nigral and striatal dopamine release in normal, hemiparkinsonian and dyskinetic rats
Abstract : Introduction: The nigrostriatal dopamine (DA) containing neurones are a pivotal component in the basal ganglia, a network that regulates movement. Degeneration of these neurones causes the cardinal symptoms of Parkinson’s disease (PD). READ MORE

4. PET applications in schizophrenia : Functional and pharmacological dopamine studies
Abstract : Schizophrenia is a group of disorders with a worldwide lifetime prevalence of 0.85%. Thefunctional outcome of the disorder seem stable from the first systematic outcome studies to thepresent day, and vary only with changes in diagnostic criteria. READ MORE

5. Cytochrome P450 2E1 - relevance for central dopamine neurotransmission and Parkinson's disease
Abstract : Introduction: The enzyme cytochrome P450 2E1 (CYP2E1) has been found in dopamine (DA) containing brain regions that are of relevance for Parkinson?s disease (PD), and is known to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS), toxic molecules that have been implicated in the degeneration of DA neurones. In addition, previous investigations have indicated that inhibition of CYP2E1 increases extracellular DA in the substantia nigra, a nucleus which degenerates in PD. READ MORE
