  1. 1. Fundamentals of a Methodology for Predictive Design Analysis

    Author : Martin Eriksson; Innovation; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Predictive design analysis; Generic design analysis process model; Confidence appraisal activities; Computer-based design analysis; Engineering design; Integration;

    Abstract : The rapid development of computer-based design analysis tools and methods such as the finite element method (FEM) within computational structural mechanics (CSM), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and multi-body systems (MBS) during recent decades has fundamentally changed the way in which products are designed and developed. Among the many advantages observed in industrial practice, one can mention improved understanding of product properties and behavior, the possibility to optimize critical design parameters and to optimize parts as well as the entire product at a system level, the possibility to explore a design space during the synthesis activity, and a decrease of the need for physical testing and thus of the number of physical prototypes needed. 2. 2. Finite Element Analysis and Design of Experiments in Engineering Design

    Author : Martin Eriksson; Innovation; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Finite element analyses; Predictive Design Analysis; Mechanical engineering design process; Design Of Experiments; Predictive Engineering;

    Abstract : Projects with the objective of introducing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) into the early phases of the design process have previously been carried out at the Department of Machine Design, see e.g. the Doctoral thesis by Burman [13]. These works clearly highlight the usefulness of introducing design analysis early in the design process. READ MORE

    Abstract : Human health is a complex and wide-ranging subject far beyond nutrition and physical exercise. Still, these factors have a huge impact on global health by their ability to prevent diseases and thus promote health. READ MORE

  4. 4. Benefits of Pharmacometric Model-Based Design and Analysis of Clinical Trials

    Author : Kristin E Karlsson; E Niclas Jonsson; Mats O Karlsson; Anders Grahnén; Michael K Smith; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; model-based analysis; pharmacometrics; modeling; disease progression; NONMEM; SAEM; Importance sampling; repeated time-to-event; RTTCE; RCEpT; NIH stroke scale; Barthel index; internal validation; external validation; study power; study design; PHARMACY; FARMACI; Pharmacokinetics and Drug Therapy; Farmakokinetik och läkemedelsterapi;

    Abstract : Quantitative pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic and disease progression models are the core of the science of pharmacometrics which has been identified as one of the strategies that can make drug development more effective. To adequately develop and utilize these models one needs to carefully consider the nature of the data, choice of appropriate estimation methods, model evaluation strategies, and, most importantly, the intended use of the model. 5. 5. Modeling aspects of reliability-based design of lined rock caverns

    Author : Davi Rodrigues Damasceno; Fredrik Johansson; Johan Spross; Rafael Jimenez; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Lined rock cavern; reliability-based design; analytical modeling; finite element modeling; underground gas storage; Inklädda bergrum; tillförlitlighetsbaserad design; analytisk modellering; finita elementmodellering; underjordisk gaslagring; Soil and Rock Mechanics; Jord- och bergmekanik;

    Abstract : The storage of large quantities of hydrogen gas in underground lined rock caverns (LRCs) could contribute to an efficient supply of fossil-free energy. The consequences of failure of such storage can be catastrophic, so representative predictive models and a small probability of failure are needed for the LRC design. READ MORE
