  1. 11. Protein Folding and DNA Origami

    Author : Mark Marvin Seibert; David van der Spoel; Helmut Grubmüller; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; protein folding; Molecular Dynamics simulations; DNA origami; Biophysics; Biofysik; Physics with specialization in Biophysics; Fysik med inriktning mot biofysik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the folding process of the de novo designed polypeptide chignolin was elucidated through atomic-scale Molecular Dynamics (MD) computer simulations. In a series of long timescale and replica exchange MD simulations, chignolin’s folding and unfolding was observed numerous times and the native state was identified from the computed Gibbs free-energy landscape. 2. 12. Protein Folding Studied by Site Directed Mutagenesis

    Author : Tomas Ternström; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism; Biochemistry; Transition state; Activation Barrier; Two-State; Protein Folding; Protein Engineering;

    Abstract : The N-terminal RNA binding domain of U1A has been shown to fold in a two-state process without accumulating any intermediates. U1A has a symmetrically curved chevron plot which seems to result mainly from changes of the transition state. READ MORE

  3. 13. Protein folding studies of human superoxide dismutase and ALS associated mutants

    Author : Mikael Lindberg; Mikael Oliveberg; Jane Clarke; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; superoxide dismutase; ALS; protein folding; equilibrium titration; protein stability; apo protein; disulphide bridge; chevron plot; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Abstract : Proteins are among the most abundant biological macromolecules. The cellular machinery is coupled to exact structural shape and properties of the more than 100 000 different proteins. Still, proteins can sometimes completely change their character and as a result trigger neuro degenerative disease. READ MORE

  4. 14. Studies on spinach plastocyanin and mutants : Expression in Escherichia coli, folding and function

    Author : Mikael Ejdebäck; Örjan Hansson; Miguel A. De la Rosa; Göteborgs Universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; plastocyanin; electron transfer; copper; protein-protein interactions; protein expression; folding; site-directed mutagenesis; NMR; Naturvetenskap; Natural sciences;

    Abstract : Photosynthesis is a process in which photons from sunlight excite chlorophylls in the thylakoid membranes of plants, algae and cyanobacteria. The photo-oxidised reaction centre chlorophyll P700 is re-reduced by an electron transferred from the soluble, blue copper protein plastocyanin. READ MORE

  5. 15. Modeling of Protein Folding and Genetic Networks

    Author : Fredrik Sjunnesson; Beräkningsbiologi och biologisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; thermodynamics; two-state folding; Protein folding; all-atom model; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; Kauffman model.; local update; Monte Carlo; classical mechanics; quantum mechanics; relativity; statistical physics; gravitation; klassisk mekanik; kvantmekanik; relativitet; statistisk fysik; termodynamik; Fysicumarkivet A:2003:Sjunnesson;

    Abstract : Models for potein folding are developed and applied to peptides and small proteins with both α-helix and β-sheet structure. The energy functions, in which effective hydrophobicity forces and hydrogen bonds are taken to be the two central terms, are sequence-based and deliberately kept simple. READ MORE
