21. Switchable and tunable bulk acoustic wave resonators based on BaxSr1-xTiO3 thin films
Abstract : The main focus of this thesis is the study of a novel microwave component, the tunable thin film bulk acoustic wave resonator (TFBAR), based on ferroelectric BaxSr1-xTiO3 thin films. Conventional fixed frequency TFBARs, widely used for filtering applications in wireless communication systems, are based on ordinary piezoelectrics. READ MORE

22. Functionalized epitaxial graphene as versatile platform for air quality sensors
Abstract : The work presented in this thesis focuses on epitaxial graphene on SiC as a platform for air quality sensors. Several approaches have been tested and evaluated to increase the sensitivity, selectivity, speed of response and stability of the sensors. READ MORE

23. On ferromagnetic thin films and two-dimensional magneto-optic photonic crystals
Abstract : This thesis presents results in two different neighboring areas of research: the magnetic properties of thin ferrite films and the application of the films in two-dimensional photonic crystals. In the first part, we investigate the accuracy of the customary method for determining the magnetic anisotropy constants of ferrite films by ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) experiment. 24. Towards a versatile gas sensing platform with epitaxial graphene
Abstract : The work presented in this thesis focuses on how to utilize epitaxially grown graphene on SiC as a basis for ultra-sensitive gas sensor. Several approaches have been tested and evaluated to increase the sensitivity, selectivity, speed of response and stability and of the graphene based gas sensors with a focus on air quality monitoring applications. 25. Quantitative Spectroscopy of Gas Phase Reactions at Elevated Temperatures
Abstract : Gas phase reactions at elevated temperatures are versatile tools for material manufacturing and energy conversion. They are of great commercial interest, but they often entail hazardous impacts on the environment. There is consequently a pronounced need for the further develpment of processes utilising these types of reactions. READ MORE
