6. Formation of nanoparticles by laser-activated processes
Abstract : Due to the small dimensions, nanoparticles and materials consisting of nano-sized building blocks exhibit unique — mostly superior — properties, well differing from their bulk counterpart. Most of the novel properties of nanoparticles (and nanomaterials) are size-dependent, while the majority of the common gasphase methods used for generation of nanopowders result in different, usually wide, size-dispersions. 7. Electronic materials : growth and characterisation
Abstract : In this thesis the InSb(111), InAs(111) and GaSb(001) surfaces have been studied by means of time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy based upon the femtosecond laser system. The pump-and-probe technique allows to analyse both electron states in the valence band and normally unpopulated electron states above the valence band, which can be occupied by transiently excited carriers at the optically pumped surface. 9. YBa2Cu3O7-δ Biepitaxial and Step Edge Josephson Junctions on MgO Substrates. SQUID Amplifier
Abstract : This thesis concerns the preparation of Josephson junctions and their applications in Superconducting Quantum Interference Devices (SQUIDs). High temperature superconductors were used for operation at 77 K, the boiling temperature of liquid nitrogen. READ MORE

10. Ramp Josephson junctions based on NdBa2Cu3O7-δ electrodes and PrBa2Cu3O7-δ barriers
Abstract : We report on smooth high quality c-axis orientedNdBa2Cu3O7-δ (NBCO) superconducting thin filmsgrown on (001) SrTiO3 substrates using pulsed laser deposition. The transition temperature of these NBCO films was around 89.5 Kand the root-mean-square (RMS) surface roughness was 0.75 nm for150 nm thick films.
