  1. 1. Molecular studies of genetic changes in myxoid and round cell liposarcoma

    Author : Sofia Järnum; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Medicin människa och djur ; oncology; Cytology; autocrine loop; RDA; persephin; RET; LEPREL1; translocation; fusion gene; liposarcoma; TLS; CHOP;

    Abstract : Chromosomal translocations commonly result in the production of fusion genes and the fusion genes are often tumor-type specific. In myxoid and round cell liposarcomas (MLS/RCLS), almost 95% of the cases carry a t(12;16)(q13;p11). In the remaining 5% of the MLS/RCLS tumors, another translocation and fusion gene can be found, i.e. READ MORE

  2. 2. Approaches to differential gene expression analysis in atherosclerosis

    Author : Tove Andersson; KTH; []
    Keywords : representational difference analysis; gene expression profiling; microarray analysis; atherosclerosis; foam cell formation;

    Abstract : Today’s rapid development of powerful tools for geneexpression analysis provides unprecedented resources forelucidating complex molecular events.The objective of this workhas been to apply, combine andevaluate tools for analysis of differential gene expressionusing atherosclerosis as a model system. 3. 3. Histamine receptors and neuropeptides in the cranial circulation

    Author : Anders Ottosson; Rättsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neurophysiology; neuropsychology; Neurology; Human - arteries - CGRP - SP - mast cells; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Abstract : The sensory neuropeptides substance P (SP) and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) are present in human cerebral, meningeal and temporal arteries, as are peptides associated with the sympathetic (neuropeptide Y, NPY) and parasympathetic (vasoactive intestinal peptide, VIP) nervous system. NPY is a vasoconstrictor in cerebral and meningeal arteries and potentiates noradrenaline (NA) as a vasoconstrictor in temporal arteries. READ MORE

  4. 4. Subtracted Approaches to Gene Expression Analysis in Atherosclerosis

    Author : Stina Boräng; KTH; []
    Keywords : Representational Difference Analysis; atherosclerosis; gene expression profiling;

    Abstract : Gene expression analysis has evolved as an extensive toolfor elucidation of various biological and molecular eventsoccurring in different organisms. A variety of techniques andsoftware tools have been developed to enable easier and morerapid means of exploring the genetic information. READ MORE

  5. 5. The mechanical wear of tuyere refractory and stirring plugs in BOF steelmaking

    Author : Qixing Yang; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Process Metallurgy; Processmetallurgi;

    Abstract : Water modelling investigations of pressure change at tuyere tip or back attack and wear of H3B03 disks, as well as high temperature modelling wear tests of BOF refractory using single- or double-tuyere and Ar or N2 gas, have been carried out to study mechanisms for mechanical wear of the refractory for BOF stirring tuyeres and plugs. A new nominal Mach number, M*', was defined and adopted as the criterion for correlating test data. READ MORE
