  1. 1. Non-protein-coding RNA Transcription and regulation of ribosomal RNA

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Molecular Biosciences, The Wenner-Gren Institute, Stockholm University

    Author : Stefanie Böhm; Stockholms universitet.; [2014]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ribosomal RNA; non-coding RNA; ribosomal genes; rDNA gene; B-WICH; chromatin remodelling; histone modification; Cell Biology; cellbiologi;

    Abstract : Cell growth and proliferation are processes in the cell that must be tightly regulated. Transcription of ribosomal RNA and ribosomal biogenesis are directly linked to cell growth and proliferation, since the ribosomal RNA encodes for the majority of transcription in a cell and ribosomal biogenesis influences directly the number of proteins that are synthesized. 2. 2. Exosomal Shuttle RNA

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Molecular Biosciences, The Wenner-Gren Institute, Stockholm University

    Author : Karin Ekström; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2008]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; exosomes; exosomal; shuttle; RNA; esRNA; vesicles; mast cell; gene transfer; microRNA;

    Abstract : Exosomes are small membrane nanovesicles of endocytic origin that can be released by many different cells to the extracellular environment. Exosomes have been found in a number of body fluids such as blood plasma, breast milk, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid and urine, indicating relevance in vivo. READ MORE

  3. 3. Versatile and Antique World of RNA The Simplicity of RNA Mediated Catalysis

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Ema Kikovska; Uppsala universitet.; [2007]
    Keywords : Microbiology; RNA Catalysis; RNase P; Metal ions; tRNA Processing; Ribozyme; Mikrobiologi;

    Abstract : RNA is the only biological molecule that can function both as a repository of information and as a catalyst. This, together with the ability to self-replicate, led to recognition of RNA as ‘prelude to life’.My work highlights some of the important features of RNA as a catalyst, exemplified by RNase P. 4. 4. Genome-wide Characterization of RNA Expression and Processing

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Ammar Zaghlool; Uppsala universitet.; [2013]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; RNA sequencing; RNA splicing; RNA processing; Gene expression; Molekylär genetik; Molecular Genetics;

    Abstract : The production of fully mature protein-coding transcripts is an intricate process that involves numerous regulation steps. The complexity of these steps provides the means for multilayered control of gene expression. READ MORE

  5. 5. A Study in RNA Bioinformatics Identification, Prediction and Analysis

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Eva Freyhult; Uppsala universitet.; [2007]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; RNA; bioinformatics; secondary structure; structure prediction; dynamic programming; energy landscape; homology search; sequence logo; tRNA; NATURAL SCIENCES Chemistry Theoretical chemistry Bioinformatics; NATURVETENSKAP Kemi Teoretisk kemi Bioinformatik;

    Abstract : Research in the last few decades has revealed the great capacity of the RNA molecule. RNA, which previously was assumed to play a main role only as an intermediate in the translation of genes to proteins, is today known to play many important roles in the cell in addition to that as a messenger RNA and transfer RNA, including the ability to catalyze reactions and gene regulations at various levels.
