  1. 1. Ras-MAPK signaling in differentiating SH-SY5Y human neuroblastoma cells

    Author : Anna-Karin Olsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Neuroblastoma; SH-SY5Y; differentiation; neurite; Ras; MAPK; PKC; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Abstract : Neuroblastoma is a malignant childhood cancer, originating from sympathetic neuroblasts of the peripheral nervous system. Neuroblastoma is a heterogenous group of tumours, while some are highly malignant others can spontaneosly mature into a more benign form or regress. READ MORE

  2. 2. Signaling determinants in Trojan horse-mediated dissemination of Toxoplasma gondii

    Author : Einar B. Ólafsson; Antonio Barragan; Eva Frickel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Apicomplexa; leukocyte motility; dendritic cell; amoeboid migration; host-parasite interactions; podosome; integrin; ITGB1; ECM; MAT; TIMP; MMP; MAPK; Erk; RTK; HGFR; Ras; calcium; VDCC; VGCC; calmodulin; CaMkII; CD63; FAK; SRC; Pi3k; hypermigration; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Abstract : Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate intracellular parasite that infects all warm-blooded vertebrates including one third of the global human population. While infection is typically asymptomatic in healthy human hosts, reactivated and acute infection in immunosuppressed or immunecompromised individuals can lead to lethal toxoplasmic encephalitis After ingestion, the parasite crosses the intestinal epithelium and rapidly achieves systemic dissemination, ultimately establishing chronic infection in the brain. 3. 3. RAS-MAPK syndromes - a Clinical and Molecular Investigation

    Author : Anna-Maja Nyström; Marie-Louise Bondeson; Göran Annerén; Anna Wedell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; RAS-MAPK syndromes; Noonan syndrome; Neurofibromatosis type I; cardio-facio-cutaneous syndrome; mutation; multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification; gene; Molecular medicine genetics and pathology ; Molekylär medicin genetik och patologi ; Klinisk genetik; Clinical Genetics;

    Abstract : The RAS-MAPK syndromes are a group of clinically and genetically related disorders, characterized by cardiac defects, facial dysmorphism, cutaneous abnormalities and neurocognitive impairment. The pathogenesis is dysregulation of the RAS-MAPK pathway, and several genes within the pathway are involved. READ MORE

  4. 4. Effects of prenatal IL-6 exposure and hyperinsulinemia on neuroendocrine regulation

    Author : Anne-Maj Samuelsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : interleukin-6; intrauterine exposure; HPA-axis; RAS; hippocampus; spatial learning; hypertension; insulin signaling; cardiac hypertrophy;

    Abstract : Prenatal exposure to infection is associated with several neuroendocrine disorders. We therefore wanted to elucidate if cytokines, generated in response to maternal infection, play a key mechanistic role in this associations. READ MORE

  5. 5. Ribosome display for selection and evolution of affibody molecules

    Author : Sebastian Grimm; Per-Åke Nygren; Mike Taussig; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; affibody; ribosome display; phage display; combinatorial protein engineering; library; murine IgG1; SATB1; Ras; Raf; Genetic engineering including functional genomics; Genteknik inkl. funktionsgenomik; SRA - Molecular Bioscience; SRA - Molekylär biovetenskap;

    Abstract : Affinity proteins are invaluable tools in biotechnological and medical applications. This thesis is about combinatorial protein engineering principles for the generation of novel affinity proteins to purify mouse immunoglobulin, detect a potential cancer marker protein or inhibit a cell proliferation pathway.
