1. Conditional Partial Plans for Rational Situated Agents Capable of Deductive Reasoning and Inductive Learning
Abstract : Rational, autonomous agents that are able to achieve their goals in dynamic, partially observable environments are the ultimate dream of Artificial Intelligence research since its beginning. The goal of this PhD thesis is to propose, develop and evaluate a framework well suited for creating intelligent agents that would be able to learn from experience, thus becoming more efficient at solving their tasks. 2. Antiadhesive agents targeting uropathogenic Escherichia coli : Multivariate studies of protein-protein and protein-carbohydrate interactions
Abstract : This thesis describes studies directed towards development of novel antiadhesive agents, with particular emphasis on compounds that prevent attachment of bacteria to a host-cell. Three different proteins involved in the assembly or function of adhesive pili in uropathogenic Escherichia coli have been targeted either by rational structure based design or statistical molecular methods. 3. Formal models of bounded rationality for autonomous agents
Abstract : A key challenge when developing intelligent agents is to instill behavior into computing systems that can be considered as intelligent from a social and "common-sense" perspective. Such behavior requires agents to diverge from typical decision-making algorithms that strive to maximize simple, often one-dimensional metrics. READ MORE

4. Reasons for All Seasons : An Outline of Rationalist View of Moral Concepts
Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to provide an adequate view of moral concepts. The major obstacle that stands in the way of providing such a view is the problem of combining two general features of moral judgments that seem to be constitutive of their meaning, namely objectivity and practical significance. 5. Aesthetic Valuing and the Self
Abstract : This thesis concerns the relation between aesthetically valuable objects and the agents that aesthetically value them. An investigation is undertaken into the psychology and rationality of such agents. I argue that self-related elements such as emotions and standing value commitments play an irreducible role in successful aesthetic engagement. READ MORE
