  1. 1. Estimation and optimal designs for multi-response Emax models

    Author : Bergrún Tinna Magnúsdóttir; Hans Nyquist; Ziad Taib; Nancy Flournoy; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; multi-response Emax models; Clinical Utility Index CUI ; optimal designs; system estimation; dose-response studies.; Statistics; statistik;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns optimal designs and estimation approaches for a class of nonlinear dose response models, namely multi-response Emax models. These models describe the relationship between the dose of a drug and two or more efficacy and/or safety variables. READ MORE

  2. 2. DSGE Model Estimation and Labor Market Dynamics

    Author : Glenn Mickelsson; Nils Gottfries; Karl Walentin; Martin M Andreasen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; DSGE Models; Macroeconomics; Estimation; Uninformative Priors; Maximum Likelihood; Labor Hoarding; US Labor Market; Swedish Micro Data; Economics; Nationalekonomi;

    Abstract : Essay 1: Estimation of DSGE Models with Uninformative PriorsDSGE models are typically estimated using Bayesian methods, but because prior information may be lacking, a number of papers have developed methods for estimation with less informative priors (diffuse priors). This paper takes this development one step further and suggests a method that allows full information maximum likelihood (FIML) estimation of a medium-sized DSGE model. READ MORE

  3. 3. Thermal response tests : influence of convective flow in groundwater filled borehole heat exchanger

    Author : Anna-Maria Gustafsson; Jeffrey D. Spitler; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Vattenteknik; Water Resources Engineering; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : The main objective of this doctorial thesis was to investigate how thermally induced movements in the groundwater (natural convective flow) may influence the heat transport in borehole and surrounding bedrock in a groundwater filled borehole heat exchanger system. The purpose was also to determine if thermal response tests could be used to detect the convective influence and the effect on evaluated heat transfer parameters, effective bedrock thermal conductivity and borehole thermal resistance. 4. 4. Quantitative analysis of tumor growth and response to therapy

    Author : Esmaeil Mehrara; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; tumor; growth; response; therapy; modeling; clinical;

    Abstract : Modeling the natural growth of tumors is of value for evaluation of tumor progression and optimization of treatment strategies. However, modeling tumor growth based on clinical data is hampered by the limited data available, since therapy is in general initiated as early as possible after diagnosis. READ MORE

  5. 5. Input Estimation in Structural Dynamics

    Author : Lars Nordström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sensitivity analysis; dynamic programming; input estimation; load identification; ill-posedness; regularization; indirect force measurement; inverse problems;

    Abstract : Knowledge of time-varying excitation is of importance in the design of a wide range of engineering applications, from spacecraft and processing plants to electronic circuits. Regardless of the actual application or underlying physics, the expected input will play a key role in the determination of adequate system properties and parameters. READ MORE
