1. Deep Learning for Wildfire Progression Monitoring Using SAR and Optical Satellite Image Time Series
Abstract : Wildfires have coexisted with human societies for more than 350 million years, always playing an important role in affecting the Earth's surface and climate. Across the globe, wildfires are becoming larger, more frequent, and longer-duration, and tend to be more destructive both in lives lost and economic costs, because of climate change and human activities. 2. Structure and representations of certain classes of infinite-dimensional algebras
Abstract : We study several infinite-dimensional algebras and their representation theory. In Paper I, we study the category O for the (centrally extended) Schrödinger Lie algebra, which is an analogue of the classical BGG category O. We decompose the category into a direct sum of "blocks", and describe Gabriel quivers of these blocks. READ MORE

3. Interactions between dietary chicory, gut microbiota and immune responses
Abstract : This thesis provides a better understanding of interactions between diet, gut microbiota, and immune responses to a specific dietary fiber source, chicory (Cichorium intybus L). This was achieved by examining the impact of chicory fiber on animal performance, digestibility, gut development, commensal bacteria community structure in small and large intestine, and follow-up reactions with specific immune components, cytoprotective heat shock protein (HSP) 27 and 72, in vivo and in vitro. 4. Functional genetics of the interleukin-4 receptors in allergic asthma
Abstract : Asthma is a complex disorder, with both genetic and environmental factors contributing to disease development. Our aim was to analyse possible associations between genetic variations of immunologically important genes and the susceptibility to and severity of allergic asthma in adults. READ MORE

5. Contributions to Semantic Dependency Parsing : Search, Learning, and Application
Abstract : Semantic dependency parsing is the task of mapping natural language sentences into representations of their meaning in the form of directed graphs on words. These bilexical graphs are designed to capture the sentence-internal predicate-argument relationships – they tell us “who did what to whom” in the given sentence. READ MORE
