1. Turbulence Modelling and Parallel Solver Development Relevant for Investigation of Gas Turbine Cooling Processes
Abstract : To enhance the performance of gas turbine engines, high top-cycle temperatures are desired. However, the temperature is limited by current materials. READ MORE

2. Computational fluid-dynamics investigations of vortex generators for flow-separation control
Abstract : Many flow cases in fluid dynamics face undesirable flow separation due to ad-verse pressure gradients on wall boundaries. This occurs, for example, due togeometrical reasons as in a highly curved turbine-inlet duct or on flow-controlsurfaces such as wing trailing-edge flaps within a certain angle-of-attack range. 3. Near-Field Study of Multiple Interacting Jets : Confluent Jets
Abstract : This thesis deals with the near-field of confluent jets, which can be of interest in many engineering applications such as design of a ventilation supply device. The physical effect of interaction between multiple closely spaced jets is studied using experimental and numerical methods. READ MORE

4. Turbulence Transport Modelling in Gas Turbine Related Applications
Abstract : Computational fluid dynamics is a cornerstone in gas turbine engine design. It is used to optimize shapes of turbine and compressor airfoils, to predict heat transfer to gas turbine hot parts, to reduce the amount of pollutants that form when fuel is burnt, to reduce gas turbine noise and so on. 5. Modeling of magnetohydrodynamic turbulence
Abstract : Conventional one-point turbulence closures have beenextended with an additional transported scalar for modeling ofmagnetohydrodynamic (MHD) turbulence. The new scalar, α ,captures the length scale anisotropy and tendency towardstwo-dimensionality, which is characteristic feature of MHDturbulence, and allows accurate modeling of the Jouledissipation of turbulence.
