  1. 1. Structure-Exploiting Numerical Algorithms for Optimal Control

    Author : Isak Nielsen; Daniel Axehill; Anders Hansson; Eric Kerrigan; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Numerical Optimal Control; Model Predictive Control; Riccati Recursion; Parallel Algorithms; Low-Rank Modifications; Parametric Programming; Optimization; Explicit MPC; Moving Horizon Estimation; Partial Condensing;

    Abstract : Numerical algorithms for efficiently solving optimal control problems are important for commonly used advanced control strategies, such as model predictive control (MPC), but can also be useful for advanced estimation techniques, such as moving horizon estimation (MHE). In MPC, the control input is computed by solving a constrained finite-time optimal control (CFTOC) problem on-line, and in MHE the estimated states are obtained by solving an optimization problem that often can be formulated as a CFTOC problem. 2. 2. Applications of Integer Quadratic Programming in Control and Communication

    Author : Daniel Axehill; Anders Hansson; Anders Rantzer; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Optimization; Model Predictive Control; CDMA; Quadratic Programming; Mixed Integer Quadratic Programming; Dual active set methods; Riccati recursion; Branch and bound; Automatic control; Reglerteknik;

    Abstract : The main topic of this thesis is integer quadratic programming with applications to problems arising in the areas of automatic control and communication. One of the most widespread modern control principles is the discrete-time method Model Predictive Control (MPC). READ MORE

  3. 3. On Structure Exploiting Numerical Algorithms for Model Predictive Control

    Author : Isak Nielsen; Daniel Axehill; Anders Hansson; Pontus Giselsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : One of the most common advanced control strategies used in industry today is Model Predictive Control (MPC), and some reasons for its success are that it can handle multivariable systems and constraints on states and control inputs in a structured way. At each time-step in the MPC control loop the control input is computed by solving a constrained finite-time optimal control (CFTOC) problem on-line. READ MORE

  4. 4. Distributed optimization for the optimal control of electric vehicle fleets

    Author : Rémi Lacombe; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Platooning; Optimal control; Electric vehicles; Public transit; Distributed optimization;

    Abstract : Owing to their absence of tailpipe emissions and their independence from fossil fuels, Electric Vehicles (EVs) are currently experiencing a rapid deployment in an attempt to curb global greenhouse gas emissions. EV operation represents a technical challenge, however, as new control algorithms need to be developed to address their limited driving range and their longer charging times. READ MORE
